Aamir decides to pull out the first promo of Talaash from Don 2, wants it to meet his exacting standards

That Aamir Khan is a perfectionist is no secret. And his latest venture had to go through his quality control test. Aamir has stopped the release of his film Talaash’s first theatrical promo that was supposed to hit the screens alongside Shah Rukh Khan’s December 23 release Don 2.

According to a unit member of Talaash, three production houses had been appointed to make the promos of the film. It is only now, that one has been finalised delaying the process and missing the Don 2 deadline.

Our source explained, “Talaash is Aamir Khan’s first film after 3 Idiots. While Dhobi Ghat and Delhi Belly, both his home productions did release, Reema Kagti’s film will be his next big commercial project.”

“Since both Talaash and Don 2 are Excel Entertainment projects, everyone expected to see the promo of Aamir’s film with SRK’s. However, since the promo got delayed, Ritesh Sidhwani, Reema Kagti and Aamir Khan decided not to rush into it and work on the promo at their own pace. In fact, Aamir wanted to spend more time on the promo and give it a different look,” added the source.

“Since Talaash is the biggest release during IPL, Aamir did not want to hurry things even if it meant missing the Don 2 deadline. And thus, the overseas delivery of Don 2, which went last week had to go without the Talaash promo,” said the source.

When contacted, Ritesh Sidhwani explained, “We had assigned three different production houses to make the promos of Talaash. We did not much like the first or the second one. The third, created by a production house owned by Pahlaj Nihalani’s son Vicky was the closest to the film. Aamir has also liked it. Now we will send a new brief to the production house so that they can start work on the final cut.”

“We are now targeting Agneepath. It isn’t true that it was Aamir who wanted to work on the promo. In fact, the promo wasn’t entirely ready. We will need to edit it a little and compose the music for it to be screen ready,” Ritesh said denying Aamir’s involvement in the delay.

    Aryan has a good point…. Why wud Aamir use Salmans Tere Naam character in a movie 3 yrs later??

    Obviously that movie was a bigg craze.

    @Delight: Thats the diference between Salman fans and Aamir fans.

    We never defend bad movies of our fav star like Yuvraaj MAMK.

    But you guys will defend CRAPiest movies from your fav star like Dhobi Ghat saying it was art house.

    Anyways Tere naam was a OK movie!

    Nothing great in it nothing bad in it!

    Content was good by Salman levels ,BO was poor by Salman present level but huge by salman’s 2003 level.

    Overall an average movie.

    Yes it was an arthouse movie,whats thr to defend in it?

    10 crore cost,

    14.5 crore+ net?

    whts thr to defend

    Revenues greater than investment,
    7.3 imdb
    below average verdict ,

    wht exactly is thr to defend?

    Is it a loss maker like VEER,YUVRAJ,MAMK,SAWAN,GTGH,LD,JAANEMANN etc [ lets not talk about content as we all know the level of sallu movies,only BO performance is improving content wise they all r same]

    If DG was crap , thn even crap word is masterpiece to define Sallu’s movies.

    Lets not talk about art from salman khan
    [as not even A of art is involved in making Ready,BG type of rickshawchaap movies]

    If you r comparing masala/chalu movies like Tere naam compare it to similar Telugu genre movies not to DG.

    Bring Phir Milenge to compete DG not your telugu chaap movies.

    @Delight44: If we take BO in count then even TMK is a semi hit but check public perception.

    DG was having worst WOM in all Aamir movies(as a actor and as a producer).

    Sallu movie dont have definitions. They are an experince. DG was CRAPFEST sold as art house movie.

    Itna Ghatiya ART to humne aaj tak nahi dekha. I wud rather watch Ra1. :P

    I have to say this: Dhobi Ghaat WAS NOT a craze.

    What do I say about Tee Naam’s IMDB rating of 7.1. That it was decent film.

    Okay Tere Naam at IMDB 7.1 is just Decent movie.

    Then how abt Fanaa at 6.8?
    Ghajini at 6.8?
    Mangal Pandey at 6.7?
    Mela at 3.2?
    Mann at 5.9?
    Ishq at 6.7?
    Raja Hindustani at 5.8?

    Soo all these movies are less than decent means “bad” movies by your definition.
    These movies comprise of around 50% os Amir movies and 50% of his movies are “bad quality” movies as per Utkal’s defn.

    So why do u keep on crying abt quality of Salman movies? Yaha to khud ke quality ke “laalle” hai…. :P

    When we show BO they say IMDB is low.
    When we show IMDB they say its “just decent”.

    So now I counted them IMBD ratings of thier fav. Clearly 50% of Aamir movies are “bad quality” as per their own definition. Egg on Face… !

    Well looks like its much more than 50%. Almost all Aamir movies in 90′s have very low IMDB. So the total is around 80%.

    So as per UTKAL’s defn 80% of Aamir movies are “Bad Quality” movies.

    So Utkal keep this list in mind before uttering a single word against quality of Salman movies. Another Egg on face… !!

    YES, Mann and Mela are poor films and so are all the films showing less than 6 in IMDB rating. . And 50% of Aamir’s films are just about decent or good. But there are also 50% which are very god and excellent.

    And if you take the average, Aamir’s films overall will have the highest quality rating. No doubt about it. Check it put.

    rockie_c83, yes, Tee Naam is very good as per IMDB ratings. Decent was just a way of putting it.

    Yes Pratek, do compile the averages of all Salman films. I really would like to see where they stand as a body of work. I haven’t done it. So I will be grateful.

    @utkal – i will give u a better formula. IQ levels of 120 or above are decent’ and if someone has that kind of iq, they dont have to depend on imdb ratings to find out a if a film is good or bad. and if they want to find out if a films is considered good’ by most ppl, there is boxofficeindia.com
