The uniformed hero is back!
Bryan Durham, TNN | Aug 10, 2011, 12.00AM IST
There is something about men in uniform that makes women go weak in the knees.
That’s exactly the reaction that the trailer of Mausam has been generating when Shahid Kapoor walks out of the plane in his Indian Air Force pilot’s uniform.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh notes, “Men in uniform have had a fantastic track record at the box office, be it Salman in Dabangg, Ajay Devgn in Singham or SRK in Veer Zara. And I think under the guidance of his father, Pankaj Kapur,
Shahid will put in a sterling performance.” Vajir Singh, the editor of a trade guide says, “Over the years, Indian leading men have either been portrayed as heroes or as lover boys. In the theatrical trailer of Mausam, if Shahid represents the heroic personality of a man in uniform in one frame, in the next he is a lover boy. It’s a rare combination that we see through his character. It’s a visual treat and a bonanza for Shahid’s fans.”

Get a feeling that Shahid will get a good success here.
Good Promo, great visuals, good songs, seems like a fresh even if rehashed idea.
Only question is , can it be THE big moment of Shahid’s career, that we have to wait and see.

I’m looking forward to the film because it seems to have been put together with some care. Also, it is Pankaj Kapoor who I consider one of the most brilliant, underutilised actors around – so at least performance-wise, there might be something special to look forward to. And hopefully, the treatment is going to be subtle. One of the most winning aspects is that it is a love story- one is getting to see that after a long time.
I like the visuals so far – but there’s also something a little staged and self-conscious about the look i feel. Hope I’m wrong.

I am looking forward to this.
The movie is made with sincerity and I m sure Shahid will rock.
But, at the same time, as Sandy said, the visuals are great but there is a theatre-ish feel to it.
I hope it will surprise all positively

I want this film to succeed for Pankaj Kapoor’s sake.
But I am worried thinking about Sawariya, Gujaarish etc. Where high hopes were raised only to be crushed.

Oooh! I like
I agree about the self-conscious and theatre-ish feel of the film. It is like Pankaj Kapoor is torn between the kind of film he wants to make and the kind of film which justifies the big budget/commercial-ness of the venture.
Like, Rabba looks pure Pankaj Kapoor but Tashan Mein looks like a half-hearted attempt to show Shahid’s dancing skills (which his fans would expect).

hmm…just read that the movie is set between 1992 to 2003. The posters have a 1942 feel to it. Hope it is not a deterrent.

So it is set in 1992 to 2003? Not only the posters but even the trailer had a 1942 feel to it.
