I know the movie is getting rave reviews but its nothing more than a average movie. The only good thing abt the movie is Prateik. Everytime Aamir comes on screen with his confused expressions and recorded videos it sbecame a crap. Psuedo Intellectuats are praising it like it is out of the world but its nthing but poor crap(according to me). Its slow and boring and of course not quality cinema. I have seen movies much better that this.

I was just comparing to see how a badly reviewed (by the audience) Aamir movie, arthouse genre, kind of a docu drama can do more business than a commercial entertainer released with 3 or more times the print count. The WOM is extremely mixed IMO. One third of the Audience liked it. One third found it utterly boring. And one third aren’t sure of how they felt…

Some Aamir Khan Fans have gone completely Nuts here by telling us that DG has got good reviews, what big deal it is that DG got Good Reviews. It was expected that DG will get good reviews, most Aamir Khan Films before release itself gets 4 or 5 Star ratings and in that most reviewers without seeing the movie give 4 or 5 star rating. Last Aamir Khan Movie that got Bad Reviews was Mela and before that Daulat Ki Jung. So I don’t understand why Aamir Khan Fans are jumping around that DG got good reviews.
This is the major problem of Aamir Khan Fans they are jumping on good reviews and this is the reason Aamir Khan Box Office in past has been pathetic. Instead of jumping on good reviews, go watch the movie and make it Hit.
As far as Box Office is concerned DG will sail through easily, as media will term it Hit. I think most have done it already.

I dont knw much about BO… But I think 18 cr ll give it a clean HIT tag… As far as I remember the first week DS is 50% n 2nd week DS is 52.5%… Weekend should b around 10cr with first week around 13cr… Lifetime should b around 18 to 20cr… Overseas, music, home video and satalite rights would b bonus… So Aamir will laugh all the way to the banks as per my little knowledge if I m not mistaken…

Cost of a Star is only when he/she is slated to partake any salary.
If its in profit sharing, then only if the movie makes profit will he/she will get any money.
In DG Aamir is Producer and also Star in profit sharing capability.
Sometimes a star might take the satellite rights , other times a circuit like Delhi/UP or Mumbai.
As of now DG seems to be on route to make good money, now how its divided between Producers Aamir and UTV.
This is a new concept which came from Hollywood, where the Stars initially take less money and then if movie makes profit, then they share it at a certain rate.
Since DG Aamir is producer, so i doubt he will take any seperate fees as Star.
Also all this only comes into play if the movie has made good profits and that itself will mean the movie is success.

i was really sucked by seeing the mentality of some people.
Friday collection of DG was approximately around 4.70cr. All India net was 3cr from 325 screen(aprox 500 prints) and the occupancy level was around 60/65% all over India. It is should be consider as very good business looking at the genre of movie and print size.
but people are saying honeymoon period is over for Aamir khan…yuk. … Aamir is still the boxoffice king of this decade.

i am not against aamir khan any way……..but less than peepli live for me is never a good business……as per being box office ing he is from last three years no doubt but for whole decade i don’t agree……..and if dhobi ghat does anywhere less than 30 cr which is evident ,then i don’t consider it has done well as per aamir standard……and i dont know why it has been released on less print…..does aamir don’t have a pan india appeal…..but what i think is even released on 600 + print it may have not done better business than this……at last for me DG is a average movie business wise and also as a viewer….2/5 as per me…..

rajeev, he could have hyped it, and released in 600 prints. More junta would have gone to see it initially. But WOM would be totally negative as expectations would have been more. He would however have made money, but eventually have cheated the audience.
There is no way 30 cr should be set as expectation for an art movie in Bollywood. Which world are you living in?

@rajeev, i totally agree with desi pardesi … yeah he could have released with 600 prints .. but as per the genre of movie (Art-Movie), he released with 350 prints coz audience may not like this kind of movies, and as per Taran Adarsh 350 prints are also higher for this kind of movie … So it depends of the genre of movies .. what to expect .. and how much prints should be released … if it was mainstream movie, he would have released with not less than 1500 prints …
At least, it is doing good collection as per art-movie becoz of Aamir Khan association !!! Otherwise it would crash on first day like Khele Hum Je Jaan Se !!!
