[welcome to the ultimate indian film community]

Entertainment Tax is a huge burden on Hindi films and it can be easily seen by the numbers of this week’s Hindi release Anjaana Anjaani and the biggest Tamil film ever Endhiran.

Both Anjaana Anjaani and Endhiran (Tamil) grossed 32 crore in India over their respective first weekends and below is how that money was shared.

Anjaana Anjaani

Gross – 32 crore

State Governments – 8 crore

Distributors – 12.50 crore

Exhibitors – 11.50 crore

Endhiran (Tamil)

Gross – 32 crore

State Governments – 1.50 crore

Distributors – 24.75 crore

Exhibitors – 5.75 crore

rosh it crossed dabang on net collection over the wekke end from all the version combined, but failed to cross dabang gross week end even wiz the tree version

dabang week end : 49 nett and 65 gross
    endhiran/robo/robot : 56 nett and 62 gross

    endhiran : 31 nett and 32 gross
    robot : 7cr nett
so the telegu version have 18cr nett

BOI at it again, decreasing numbers and making up excuses.

Rosh All india collection is around 57 crore net 1st weekend, In tamil nadu it collected 32 crore net and yes in tamil nadu there isn’t tax. But BOI dont add that Tamil Nadu population is far less than that in north and ticket price very low.

Even if we follow this logic of BOI that Endhiran tamil grossed 32 crore and AA grossed 32 crore in 1st weekend, and lets say adding the same tax to endhiran and it wud be 24 crore, then it wont make a huge difference, as when u add 18 crore net of telgu which adds tax and 7 crore of north, then endiran wud still end up with 50 crore net, so its still a bad excuse.

They said 30.5 crore net from gross 32 crore and here they argue that its tax free lol

a better question to ask boi is how much did AA gross in south India where entertainment taxes r low:P

and also how much did AA gross in overseas compared to Endhiran:P

sahil maybe this 1.5 goverment tax is from endhiran playin in other state , not in tamil nadu.
aur yeh baat galat hai ke tax aut baghair tax se koi farak nahi parta, baut farak hai

It is only in TN, where it is zero tax for tamil titles.. dubbed version in AP has 7% tax.. karnataka is even higher (limited release in first week).. kerala, i have no idea
