South India Boxoffice
Does anyone have any Idea about the Boxoffice of South Movies? I mean, is there any site which gives accurate numbers and reports of South Movies like how there are sites like BOI.com, BOI.co.in, Bollywoodhungama, Businessofcinema etc? Is there any well known Trade Analysts for South movies like Taran or Komal?
I think South Indian Boxoffice is very, very opaque. There is no transparency what so ever.. Numbers are thrown wildly everywhere.. There is no news about which movie is the biggest hit or opener or grosser etc.
Like we know that Dabangg is the biggest Opener with 14 crores on 1st day, 49 cores in 3 days, 81 crores in 1 week.. and that 3 Idiots is biggest netter with 203 crores. We know about Historical Hits and we know how much a certain Bollywood movie made (Courtesy to BOI.com, Nahata, Adarsh etc ). But what about Tamil/Telgu movies?

Endhiran is releasing in few days and I think we need to have an Idea about tamil movies BO to truly appreciate its BO. We just cant sit and go “Oooohh” reading news like “Endhiran tickets sold for 1 month in 1 hour!!!”. We need to know more.
All I know is that Magadheera is one of the biggest hits of all time and that it broke Indra’s record for biggest grosser. Telgu and Tamil Distributors and Producers seem like crooks to me. They never reveal details properly. And they fake soo much..
Anyone knows details of South movies Boxoffice? Share your opinoins on what I said too..

0Sify is the one which gives somewhat better idea. But yes, there is no sort of details on all the questions you are asking. We can get final nett after the movie releases – a year or two after the dust settles in.

0 0yep, there is no transparency about south box office and there is only one reason, infact a huge number of reasons – FANS. the fans are just crazy.. they won’t let a flop movie collections put up anywhere.. that’s why you only hear about first or second week collections (which will be big anyways) after that you don’t/won’t know the real picture and the fans will just give some random figures.. in AP, ‘Superhit’ is the most popular trade magazine and they started their site a month ago ‘thesuperhit.com’ but there is hardly any data and i am not sure how much effort they would put into it. you can only see daily collections of mvies running at RTC X roads, hyderabad, a sandhya or sudarsan theater figures… nothing more as of now. just to give a clue about fans craziness… years back in Visakhapatnam, chiru fans physically beat up rival fans because they were claiming record number of 100 days centers or something… how can there be transparency among such heights of stupidity??

0 0magadheera was massive.. but where would 120 cr come from? it’s share even in best case would be no more than 70cr because it did great outside ap also, satellite was the highest 7cr (i doubt this one too). audio doesn’t give as much as hindi films. overseas no way it would be more than 5 cr share. and i guarantee you that there is no way that misery allu aravind would have invested 40 cr on this film, that is pure bull s***. all he knows is make as much money as possible..he doesn’t pay everyone their exact price

0 0Talking of stupidity,Once i was strolling around the beach at Visakhapatnam along with my gang of freinds (10 years back during my MBA days)..we all heard loud noises of drum beating,cheering and all..Out of curiousity we headed towards the direction the noise was coming from…When we reached the spot (It was a fisherman slum in the MVP colony) there was a crowd of about 200 people dancing like mad. When we asked a person with our broken telugu regarding whats the deal? he pointed towards a big Chiranjeevi hoarding with girlands and said”Its cheeru’s Birthday”"
They even made us dance for 15-20 mins

dude magadheera is the current biggest grosser at 58 crs dist. share(declared by allu sirish on twitter,few trade analysts also gave that figure)
it beat pokiri(original wanted) which was the earlier biggest grosser at 42 crs share.(yes its dist.share is more than wanted’s 35 cr)
it was pokiri which beat indra to become biggest.indra had 30 crs share.

idlebrain.com at times gives shares of som big hits n its authentic.actually boindia gets info frm various magazines.so there should be som1 frm south as well to do it.

1 0Dont beleive these figures, i am from andhra pradesh. these all huge collections are fake. in AP there is no official source to tell the collections of a movie. one tell 60 crores and other tell 80 crores. All telugu news papers mentioned that magadheere gross collections are 65 crores worldwide. telugu films have limited market. telugu films even not able to collect one crore from overseas. all these fake collections are to increase the popularity of the hero in the local. can u beleive 120 crores are coming only from one state. Remember any one can edit wikipedia. even the ticket prices also not high as bollywood movies. ticket retes varies from Rs.50-60. all are single screens and no multiplexes are there in the state except 5 multiplexes in Hyd and 3 in vijag. they are comparing them with bollywood stars thats why they are saying that fake collections. If a movie in telugu grosses 50 crores means in real it grossed 25 crores. if the producer said the budget was 40 cr then the truth is 20 cr. Here there is Rivalry between families thats why they mention that figures.

Once I read, KANK grossed a Huge 71,000,000 Pounds from UK in opening weekend.. Then I read how Wanted is the biggest grosser with 116 crores Nett, ahead of Ghajini 115 crs (This was before 3 Idiots).. Then once, I opened OSO page, and some chuth wrote stuff like “THis movie is sh#t, it sks, it is a flop and SRK is Rakhi Sawant blah blah blah”. Since then, I refer less to Wiki when it comes to BO or Hindi movies and all..
