The Trailer is good, makes one anticipate the movie, has an international feel and is sure to make people damn curious and excited. Hrithik looks good, Barbara looks gorgeous… You can easily see the chemistry between the leads just by the trailers.
Where is Kangana in the trailer? Its only Hrithik and Barbara most of the time.. And also another thing, The story here has to be Damn good.. The trailer looks great and it will be VERY disappointing if we are fed with a little better version of Dhoom 2 but I have hopes as it is coming from Rakesh-Hrithik combo and their movies are atleast entertaining, if not great.
I read somewhere that Kites has been bought for 110 crores? And its India + Overseas rights have been sold for 70 crores? (Excluding Spanish Rights I think..).
The trailer should work well with the Indian audiences. Its got everything going for it.Hrithik-Barbara chemistry seems to have worked as was expected.Good to see Hrithik letting his hair down after quite some time.
My gutfeel says this one is going to be a big hit, cud easily do 100cr in India. Also, the fact that Brett Ratner (as discussed few days back in another thread) is editing the English version for a English only release means, this is going to be big in US as well. Just consider that it has Mori with all those Spanish dialogs in it, enough to get all the Hispanic audiences, which at last count were about 30Million in the US (more than the paltry 3M desi audience..lol). For advertisement, buzz and WOM, lagta hai sab desiyon ko apne mexican cleaning ladies ko dikhana padega, lol.
If it is engaging enough to the avg massy audience, it will easily do more than $10M just in US. Wait n watch dudes.
I was curious to know how the movie has shaped up with a view to match the taste of the Indian audiences in particular.I am pretty relaxed now. I can safely say that Kites will certainly not be a losing affair!
I hope this movie puts the silencer on the lips of all those who have a complaint that Hrithik has stuck himself in “larger than life” roles and has a propensity for only such roles. He looks to be a normal guy here.
May not be a great film. But decent enough. Hritik is pleasure to watch always. And Anurag Basu can pull this romance-thriller combo well. I have liked almost all his earlier films: Murder, Gangster and Metro. Yeah 10crores is a possibility. About overseas prospect it is hard to say without actually seeing the film.
Simply put – This movie flopping is out of question! No point acting juvenile and deluding yourself.Kites is an assured success.’How Big?’ – is the question.Start thinking on those terms before it is too late to catch up with the world.
Promo of KITES reminds me of Kevin Costner’s emotion love story cum revenge drama – REVENGE. Revenge is my absolute favourite Costner movie and the highlight of the movie was the torture that lovers (esp the girl) get. I, as a viewer, felt like taking revenge for her…so, one can imagine the emotional connect when Costner actually does it. Violence in ‘Revenge’ was gruesome and was done because two people fell in love.
Anurag makes good remake of english movie so my expectation has now grown. I think the movie looks like a cross between Matchpoint and Revenge. That will make an awesome narration. I can predict a Ghajini like business here.
Ghajini too was a revenge saga but the violence invloved a social cause. In Costner’s Revenge, violence was against lovers. I am keet to see what Kites will be….am excited now.
My only concern with the movie was whether Barbara mori would go down well with the Indian audiences.Going by the promo,Barbara does seem to fit the bill perfectly and should grab the attention of the audiences right from the word go.The Hrithik-Barbara chemistry connects with you instantly. Its got scenic locales,BGM is great, action scenes look cool. You can easily feel a positive and refreshing vibe from the trailer.
Your interpretation of the trailer sounds interesting. Not seen the movie Revenge though. But agree that the concept of “revenge” as such is enticing.Rakesh Roshan’s Khoon Bhari Maang comes to my mind instantly.

Good that they have released Kites trailer 4 months before the release, it will give ample time to build up the hype around it.
Should be a assured hit.
