He is right. The guy always praises everyone any chance he gets. Having said that, I don’t think its wise to be so bitter b4 MNIK. No need for negative stories. If mnik has commercial elements, then he should not worry at all, he won’t need praises.

FOR the first time in his mature years, Karan Johar is a depressed man. It’s to do with the efforts of people around him to cause a rift between him and his mentor Shah Rukh Khan. It’s also to do with the nature of his latest directorial venture My Name Is Khan and the talk show Lift Kara De, where Karan brings some of the unhappiest people on the show.
Now he needs an anti-depressant. “I need a break from grim happenings. I’m going to do another season of Koffee With Karan before I direct another film. Of course, I can’t go back to the gossipy, bitchy format. This time Koffee …will be more probing, sober, more about a reality check than the pay cheque.”
Ranbir Kapoor’s Wake Up Sid, Karan Johar has finally woken up. Hurt, wounded and for the first time openly resentful about the lack of solidarity, affability and a basic compassion in the film industry, Karan for the first time says he won’t go out of his way to praise his colleagues’ films.
This, coming from a filmmaker who has constantly gone out of his way to heap lavish praise on his contemporaries’ creations, is a tragic comment on Karan’s disenchantment with his fraternity.
“Why should I praise other people’s films when nobody praises mine? Maybe my films aren’t worth praising. Maybe others are dream directors and I’m just a director who dreams?” says Karan bitterly, directly referring to the way colleagues bitched about his films Wake Up Sid and Kurbaan released last year, so much that both his directors Ayan Mukerjee and Rensil D’Silva have gone underground.

I find Karan quite a sweet guy. And yes, I vastly prefer him as a filmmaker to Farah Khan etc. I really believe Farah had nothing mroe to offer SRK any more. yes, she could have got him another OSO kind of deal, but frankly, is that what SRK needs? I don’t think so.
Still I think SRK must take a fresh call on Karan after seeing how MNIK has turned out. There is no point blindly doing a film for a friend.

Because your films, generally, suck.
And what yous aid about yourself is spot-on true – you just dream and happen to have money and people from the “fraternity” around you. Talent is more than that.

WTF happened to the happy go lucky guy i used to see on Koffee with Karan, was that all fake.

I have always liked KJO as a person. He seems to be a good guy at heart but then they guy gets lots of flaks from his own Industrywallahs. He isnt the greatest Director and Frankly speaking, I hated KKHH, K3G and KANK. But I am still hoping that MNIK will do great. I want it to be a good movie..

It is stupid to expect ohers to praise your films just because you praise theirs. I agre kran has ben sincere and generous in praising films like Lagaan, Dil Chahta Hai, Gadar, Monsoon Wedding, Paa, Kaminey and 3 idiots. But that’s nota big deal. He would only look foolish or pompous like Subhash Ghai if he did not praise these films. But why does he expoect that the makers of these films will automaticaly praise his films? If he mkaes films that apeal to these makes the praise will come. Wake Up sid did get fair amount of admiration from the film comunity. But obviously not Kurbaan, because it was a bad film.

Doga, a little unfair there. He is still happy go lucky, but when ppl don’t give at least a critical acclaim to his movies (wake up sid was good), he has got to feel hurt.
sandy, don’t u think that its the other way around? srk needs kjo more than kjo needs srk? IMO, SRK really needs kjo as Farah has moved on to Akki… that is ofcourse cuz he likes working in his comfort zone

Rohit,
I believe Kjo is vastly better director than some of the so called great directors..His fims may be cheesy but who doesnt like cheese once a while …And ask half of the audince(female section) ,for them Kjo will come in their Top 3 Director list anytime…Why cant we respect the tastes of the female audince…??

I sincerely hope MNIK is the last SRK film with KJO…SRK will be better off to do films with other directors like VB,Anurag Kashyap,Imtiaz Ali ,farhan Akhtar etc….Breaking away from farah Khan is a good step…And yes its KJO who needs SRK more than the other way round…But MNIK might just dilute that perception…

Karan seems to be saying lots of ‘upset-ty’ things… i wonder if all izz well with him.
——–
Though it’s well known that Karan Johar loves to work with Shahrukh in his films, but the celebrity filmmaker is not averse to the idea of working with the other Khan, we mean Aamir Khan too.
CHECK OUT: MNIK is not an issue based film
Reportedly, in a recent interview the filmmaker admitted that he has huge respect for Aamir Khan’s talent and would like to work with him some day. Though there are no films in the pipeline with Aamir, but it seems KJO has no qualms working with the other Khans as well.
The filmmaker is also upset over the fact that none of his recent films brought him any award. In a candid admission the filmmaker said, “I am very touchy about awards and I am disappointed that none of my films won any award despite being critically acclaimed.”

Cinematic, I have hardly seen any movie of KJo apart from half of KKHH..but as per above quote if this guys is taking BW awards this seriously then I am sure about his “talent”!!
BTW what was he smoking when he claims that WUS was bashed by industry??? Seems like he is too frustrated or his mask is off..

Rocket Singh is good (there were some well intentioned liberties). I agree it is not your go to cinema hall fun movie. But I liked it more than the other two hits by Ranbir.
Saw flavors sometime back and liked it.
I am probably in opposite camps of your wife. But then I am opposite camp of my wife also

Shayad “Chup tum raho” ka jyada asar ho gaya hogaa.
Have you tried Abhay Deol’s “Ek Chalis Ki Last Local”
ps: “Raat gayi baat gayi” dekhne ke baad yeh dialogue zaroor sunene ko milegaa “Saare pati ek jaise hi hote hain”

Rocky: Raat Gayee Baat Gayee is a good film, don’t think your wife will flee; it’s a much cleaner film than the title makes it sound. It’s about a temptation that arises, and whether or not it is succumbed to and the marital problems it creates, therein lies the rub. [Not back rub...]

Ek Chalis Ki Last Local sucked IMO. Began well, but really didn’t like how it turned out, it’s one of the worst abhay deol films…
