Veer created havoc in the Rajasthan circuit when it opened on Friday. It remains to be seen what sort of business Veer does in the whole of India but in Rajasthan the film is a clean hit even if collections were to crash badly over the weekdays.
Veer set new records in most of the centres in Rajasthan with only Jaipur, Kota and a couple of other cities being the exception. Jodhpur, Bikaner, Shriganganagar, Sikar, Alwar, Kisangarh, Bhilwara and many more stations witnessed never seen before figures.
In Jodhpur the masses were so impressed by Salman Khan in Veer that after watching the film they put garlands on Salman Khan cut-outs which featured him in his Veer look. These sort of scenes are very rare for Hindi films heroes although it happens with the megastars of South India.

I think Veer will definately be a Hit. Its doing fantastic at Single Screens. And even if multiplex were to witness a fall, I think this will do more than Wanted in Single Screens i.e more than 40 crores from there. Indeed, masses are really liking Veer.

Putting garlands on cut-outs is not very uncommon in western india also. I have seen many sanjubaba movie cut-outs like that and remember how people were hyper excited about his movies in 90s. This was true about many B & C centers in 90s…

Veer has done good first weekend business of 19.50 crore nett thanks to bumper business in single screens. The film did 7 crore nett on Friday, Saturday saw a drop with 5.25 crore nett business and Sunday was good with 7.25 crore nett. Tuesday is Republic Day holiday so around 31-32 crore nett business can be expected over the first week.
Veer has got a big thumbs down from the critics and media but at the box office it has performed well till now. The film will emerge a hit in Rajasthan while circuits like Delhi/UP, Bihar, CP Berar and CI may also do hit business. Single screen business is huge in the Hindi belt.
The public has a mind of its own and even in a worst case scenario the film will emerge an average success with a 25 crore all India distributor share. Veer is the first success of 2010 and if it can sustain in its second weekend then it will emerge the first hit of 2010 with a 30 crore plus share.

How can anyone say that a film has ben liked, when it has a drop on Saturday compared to Friday nad shows no jump on Sunday as compared to Friday? Won’t the usual conclusion be that the film has been rejected? anyone can throw some light on this? afil that can do avergae business is termed ‘the first succes of 2010′ ! Then why isn’t Mangal Pandey a sucess? Explanations, anyone again?

Regions like Rajastahan , CI and Bihar combined constiturte what percentgae of Indian box ofice? Being ahIt there does not mean much overall. Before the film’s release headlines screamed., ” After 3 Idiots all eyes are on Veer and My Name Is Khan. And you call this performing well at the box ofice? And how cana drop on Saturday be glosed over withouit any comment? Doesn’t it mean very clearly that the film has ben rejected? Anyone has anyother explanation?

saturday and sunday business is dissapointing to me…If it performs the way it is performing then at best it can do 50 cr business…

I want it to do 50Cr otherwise I fear Doga will do a disappearing act. But I am afraid it will finish around 45Cr.

For Doga, I want this movie to do 50 crs
Anyways, I think Boxofficeindia.com are being way too “nice” to Veer. I mean, lets take a look at this :-
APKGK and RNBDJ had less collections on first day. Still their first weekend numbers were 23 and 24 crores Respectively. Veer has 19.5 – 20 crores. So, IMO, Veer isnt really “secured” yet. If it makes around makes 3+ crores on Monday, then Aal is fine for Veer because that would mean it can do 30+ in first week. But if it is having like 2 crs, then the fall is going to be higher by thurs, irrespective of the fact that Tue is a holiday.
I think Veer should finish in 40’s crores. But it Distributors share will be higher than other movies in 40’s due to great business in Single Screen.
I heard the movie isnt doing great in Mumbai Sector.. That is quite bad because Mumbai is too big off a revenue sector..

Whatever may be the commentary by BOI on “”veer”‘ they are more likely to come up with “”close to accurate”" figures in the end..

Veer has recorded fair collections at Indore multiplexes. Collections are similar to Salman Khan’s last hit Wanted. The single screens in Indore for Veer are much better than Wanted initially.

Honestly, If anyone sees the numbers, there is practically no improvement in these circuits on Sunday from Friday. Unless Friday was 90-100%, then there seems to be a little problem here for Veer.

This is an interesting scenerio for Veer. This will prove if a film can succeed on the basis of single screen business or that Wanted was an aberration. This will determine whether producers go in for more out and out massy fares in the future.

Veer showed a heavy fall on Wednesday as it recorded around 2 crore nett business. The total now is nearly 31 crore nett and the week will finish around 32.75 crore nett mark.
The fall was expected after a big Tuesday but steady collections would have meant better a second week. The film will emerge a hit in some circuits but overall hit status may be difficult unless second week can show decent collections.
The film has not done well in Mysore, Tamil Nadu and Kerala but these are small circuits so the biggest let down has come in Mumbai and East Punjab. Better business in these circuits would have helped the films a cause a lot.

Veer’s Director: Producers lied; Budget of Veer is only 22-23 Cr
http://www.bollywoodhungama.co.....index.html
Now this is interesting. If i take Anil’s view, i wonder whom shall we take as gospel? Producers indeed have a big incentive to hype their cost to sell at a high price esp in a market where distributors/exhibitors are ready to pay.
Gorilla 27 January 2010
10:47:32 pm
My another question is – Does Komal, Taran, Abid, Jogindar and other celebrated analysts have an iota of information about the budget? From where do they get the information?
Esp with Komal, who ranks the film as hits or flops based on the budget and ROI, what’s his source? Just suggesting that he has been consistent is not sufficient.
If i take Anil’s view, Veer is already a HIT.
If i take Komal’s view, Veer is a flop.
If i take a moderate view, Veer is an average to semi hit.
I have seen this happening with other films where a fanatic keeps posting items on the BO view that he prefers.
Bottomline is that we have to live with it. There is no solution. There is no hope. There is only war and that’s good news for sites like NG.

Gorilla – Anil Sharma is talking about Hero, when he is quoting “22-23″ crore (which media said 50cr movie).
What Komal or Taran is talking about is price at which it was sold. It is more of rumor and conjecture with individual producers but with big houses it is little bit more open. The thing is that no one denies the numbers before the movie and as soon as the movie releases and it underperforms, everything is marked down significantly.

Three Idiots Super Strong On Republic Day
Thursday 28th January 2010 08.30 IST
Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network
Three Idiots is continuing to rack up huge collections. The film collected nearly 3.25 crore nett on Republic Day which is a huge collection for a film which is in its fifth week.
The business was more than three times higher than its Monday business. The business for Three Idiots in the fifth week now looks likely to be around 10.50 crore nett which would be a 35% fall from the previous week. This is extraordinary considering it had huge competition in the form of Veer.
Three Idiots will have collected around 192 crore nett after its fifth week. Week six could also be another record. The target would be the 5.50 crore nett of Gadar Ek Prem Katha.

Anil Sharma is talking about the budget of Hero, Not Veer. Its almost impossible now to make a Historical movie with a Big star for a budget of 22-23 crores.
Veer is Quite expensive. And the fall on wednesday is not a good news.. Its shows in multiplexes are being reduced heavily in second week.. It needs to do real well in Single Screens…
WOW! 3 Idiots makes 3.25 crores on Republic Day!! Unbeatable..
BDW, Check this out. Multiplexes were having 2-3 shows of 3 Idiots in its 5th weekend here in Hyderabad. And suddenly, they have now increased to 5-6 in 6th week.. Looks, like 3 Idiots is not relaxing at all.. I thought it will have a fall in 5th week but Republic Day’s nett was just Extra-ordinary.. Collecting a 3.25 crores on a weekday Holiday in 5th week is just plain and simple out of this world.
