“‘3Idiots’ has become a barometer of box office success. The (collection) figures are amazing. I don’t think any film will be able to match or even cross them,” Johar told PTI adding that comparisons between the two films was inevitable. “Comparisons with ‘3Idiots’ is inevitable. But while ‘3Idiots’ is quintessential mainstream entertainment, ‘My name…’ is completely different in genre and would attract a different kind of audience,” explained Johar.

   he has no choice. He knows that MNIK has zero chance. Forget 3I which is in a different planet. Let’s first see if MNIK can even cross 100 CR.

   Here is what I am predicting MNIK will do :-

   1st Weekend :- 34-35 crores Nett
   1st Week :- 55-56 crores Nett
   Total :- 105-106 crores Nett

   Well, the thing about Boxoffice today is that it has become just too unpredictable. Nobody thought Ghajini would be so huge. Nobody imagined in the wildest dreams that 3 Idiots would make Ghajini’s collections look so-so. And then there are classic egs of APKGK, 2012 succeeding and the likes of Kurbaan, CC2C, Blue failing..

   Somehow I feel, DMG shouldnt have released before MNIK. It will take away some shine from the fact “SRK returns after 14 months”.
