Paa- Had a slow Friday [approx. Rs. 2.15 cr.], although business picked up in the evening shows. Saturday witnessed a big jump in business at plexes [approx. Rs. 3.50 cr.]. Sunday showed a further jump [approx. Rs. 5.25 cr. to Rs. 5.50 cr.]. Such escalation in day-wise business is a rarity in today’s times. Only goes to show that the film has been lapped up in a big way. Monday is expected to be better than Friday
DDD – Better at single screens. Average, due to its high costs

Abid: PAA picks up beautifully!
After an expected slow start on Friday morning, Balki’s double Bachchan starrer, PAA, picked up towards the evening show itself. Saturday saw a much better performance than Friday (even during the morning shows), indicating very clearly that the good reviews and positive word of mouth had done the trick.
As per the first numbers made available to the media, the Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Vidya Balan starrer, PAA , has a 10 crore worldwide gross during the first two days itself. And with even better Sunday (more so at the multiplexes) things are only going to improve from here.
Here’s looking forward to another triumph for the Bachchan duo.

BTW Paa is the second biggest hit after APKGK in Bangalore this year. Even today most of the shows were housefull. B’lore alone should contribute around 2.5 to 3 crores to its business

So even Taran who was calling DDD’s opening as biggest and whatnot is calling it an Average in 2nd week due to high costs? … ouch! Time for akki fans to leave Nahata and go after Adarsh.
btw, if akshay cant give a hit with priyan and the hera pheri team in his comedy genre – i guess his days are really over.

all said and done – akshay is a remarkable phenomenon. He is your quintessential one week star. His movies just cant seem to run after one week. Having said that – I cant recollect any actor in any film industry whose movies repeatedly gives good first week openings and fade after that.
