Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s production Crooked is set to go on the floors from January 14 next year. However, the Abhishek Bachchan starrer has no lead actress as Aishwarya, who was supposed to do the film, opted out citing date problems.
Her dates for Crooked were colliding with Vipul Shah’s Action Replay. Since Action Replay is inching towards completion, Aishwarya had to give it priority, leaving her with no choice but to opt out of Crooked, directed by Abhinay Deo. It is a thriller which will be shot at different foreign locales.
Meanwhile, Farhan’s other production directed by Zoya Akhtar featuring Hrithik Roshan, Farhan and Abhay Deol is also stuck as it has no lead actress. The film’s shooting starts from April 5 in Spain. Ritesh says, “We are now looking for a completely new face in Crooked, which actually requires three new girls. We also need a fresh face either from London or New York for Hrithik in Zoya’s film.”
Farhan says, “Hrithik has been a true friend. I start directing Don 3 from September 2010, so Zoya’s film had to be completed before that. Hrithik adjusted his dates accordingly.”

Hrithik will have 3 releases in 2010 … which will be followed by Kjo’s Agneepath remake, Rakesh Roshan’s Krrish 2 and the Vishal Baharadwaj movie – all three in scripting phase.
He seems in a hurry to make up for the lost time now.

Hrithik does seem to be in a hurry now(which is good).
But is it possible so start a movie in April and Release by Dec?
I think at best this one will release in Early 2011.

this is a small film … a 2010 release by late dec is possible.
imo the likely release dates will be:
kites – summer
guzarish – diwali
zoya’s – christmas

By Khans getting out of the Equation, i see Hrithik Consolidating at the top by 2012 End.(with all his 5-6 movies releasing and all being good successes).
If he is able to do this by that time he will have Good Solid 11-12 hits under his belt.

Yes Rab ne was able to do this, if 3 movies come in a year, nothing beats that.

I think Hrithik’s career is likely to progress like the way SRK/Ammir’s did … both of them were in the A-league of top actors in the 90s decade without being the number #1.
It was only in this decade that SRK and Aamir had the achievements which have taken them to a different league altogether. Hrithik is already counted along with SRK/Aamir universally by trade and media as the top actors for some time now.
Hrithik now has worked his way to what seems a solid line-up for the next three years … and if these movies click, he will be the next coveted #1 (something that has not been there since 2005).
The best aspect for Hrithik is that he hardly has any competition – the Khans are further reducing their workload, and among his peers Abhishek is his nearest competitor but has been left far behind in the race already.
Chances of Abhishek catching up is slim … if he has a Ravan with Ratnam, then Hrithik has Bhansali and Bharadwaj movies. Also look at the different projects they are getting from the big banners – Kjo has Dostana 2’s gay act reserved for Abhishek, but the Agneepath remake for Hrithik. The Akhtars have some newcomer director Deo’s Crooked for Abhishek, but Zoya’s movie for Hrithik.
This i believe will cause further heartburn in the Bachchan camp.
Among the newcomers Ranbir has proved to be a future prospect – but considering all the innocent boyish type-casted roles he is doing – he still has a long way to go.

Don 3?

RKS, Farhan Probably calls the original Don 1, the SRK one Don 2 and this one Don 3.
September for Don 3 makes it even more interesting.
Will SRK be able to Start and Finish Ra 1 in the meantime, dont think so.

loc Ach – now ur sounding like Gorilla
SRK owned the last 2 decades. Ya maybe in the 90s the other stars were there but easily SRK made the most impact – by far. Aamir is no where a big star until the last 2 years. One could say that Salman was a bigger star than Aamir.
Hrithik is definitely not going the SRK/Aamir way. He has had way too many flops but what has salvaged him is that he has had mammoth hits – tho few and far between. To consolidate he needs a string of successes like what Doga says and hopefully with the line up he has – he may just make it. Tho I am very antsy about Kites – something just doesnt add up there. And whatever promo came out was same quality as DMG

Beld – Hrithik has more flops than Aamir and SRK in 90s????
Maybe you wud like to check the filmography of these stars? If i am not wrong SRK/Aamir had more than twice the no of flops hrithik has had till now.
Hrithik due to his huge grossers is still among the top star league much like aamir/SRK/salman was by the end of 90s.
By 1999 the top trio of BW stars was SRK/aamir/Salman … at the end of this decade its SRK/Aamir/Hrithik.

My earlier comment on the same topic:
“Hrithik (though low on volume) has had a very good career so far … with KNPH, KMG, Krrish, D2 and Jodhaa Akabr – is one of the undisputed top stars in the industry along with Srk/Aamir … one may extend that list to Akshay Kumar since PHP … even though his superhits may not be the best movies around, but the magnitude of his hits indicates the wide spectrum of audience his flicks can pull to the theaters.
His position is much like where SRK was in 98-99 timezone after his triple big hits in DDLJ, DTPH and KKHH. at that time SRK had bigger pull among the top stars – aamir/salman were also doing good with rangeela, RH, HAHK, etc etc. It was only during the period late 2000 from Mahabattein to 2004 with MHN/VZ/Swades that he was universally accepted as the biggest star in the industry. The term only sex and srk sells was coined in the same timeframe.
Similar period for Aamir is from early 2006 with RDB to Ghajini in 2009 – a great run has given him universal acceptance as the top star.
If hrithik is destined to be the next top star, he needs a similar great run in the next 3-4 years. His lineup for this period is good on paper – Kites, Guzarish, Vishal’s next, Krrish sequel, etc. But you never know how it will turn out … Kites and Guzarish may as well flop and he may be nowhere.”

I wud also say i am hardly bothered about the leaked footage from Cannes … the movie was not even on the editing table when they went to Cannes .. and I have seen worse leaked footage of films that turned out to be good. Some are clinging on to the leaked scene as ‘promos’ to run down the movie – doesnt bother me though.

Anna,I didnt say about gorilla.
I think we are going to see a lot of explanations about Hrithik’s underperforming films from now from his fans as to how the films are hits.
