I had minimum expectations from the music, considering it would be situational and the 2 Munnabhais were hardly musical. But I was pleasantly surprised listening to 3 Idiots. It IS situational, but all the same it’s light, breezy and goes perfectly with the mood of the film. I like the interludes in a couple of the romantic songs.
I don’t see the songs picking up in a big way like RDB before release, but i see major success for every single number post release – seen with the film.
One word on Moitra – not my fav music director. Too saccharine sweet and forced sometimes. But here in 3 I, there is a nice sense of abandon to the songs, which I liked.

going by raju’s track record – the songs in the munnabhai series were not really that great. so dont expect much from this album. how i wish this had some other producer than vvc. if there are 2 personalities that i cant stand in bwood – they are vvc and slb

On 3 Idiots: I like the piano interludes very much in Zoobi Doobi…I don’t know how the actors are going to look dancing in the rain, but this is a really nice number. Very old world charm.
On Moitra, yeah, occasionally, he’s good. I liked a couple of songs in Parineeta – mainly Yeh Hawaien. But for me, his standout work has been Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi (Man Yeh Bawra).
On the Munnabhais, LRM had above average music mostly, but I’m a fan of MBBS music (Anu Malik) – the title song and the Gracie Singh number.
I personally feel that the appeal of many songs gets accentuated when you see it along with the film. This is especially true of situational comedies.

I loved LRM songs and the picturizations..esp Samjho Ho hi gaya.
I did not expect much from 3I album after “all izz well” song promo – but this is a pleasant surprise. I am hooked to “Behti Hawa” and “Give me some sunshine”.
Jaane nahi denge is very situational…
