In my humble opinion 2007 has been an incredible year for Hindi cinema. Four outstanding masterpieces all in one year; BLACK FRIDAY, GURU, DHARM and now TAARE ZAMEEN PAR. Without a doubt anything with the name Aamir Khan associated to it instantly becomes eagerly awaited, and after the double whammy of RANG DE BASANTI and FANAA his next film came with incredible expectations, especially when the news came out that Aamir Khan was also finally making his debut as a director with TAARE ZAMEEN PAR. So does the movie live up to expectations? Yes, infact Aamir Khan again raises the bar for Indian cinema as a whole and it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that this is another LAGAAN moment in the incredible actor’s career with or without the Oscars. However in saying that this isn’t Aamir Khan-the actor’s film, this is Aamir Khan-the director’s film who is equally if not more talented!
