India’s first underwater thriller is proving to be a smashing hit at the box office. Multi-starrer Blue has easily won the Diwali battle, though the movie received mixed response from the audience as well as critics. ‘Blue’ grossed around Rs 19 crore approx over its first weekend, thumbs up to its sleek direction and camera work, and thanks to the bikini babe Lara Dutta.
The other release All The Best tried to match its success and collected approx Rs 15.50 crore over its four-day weekend. The Ajay Devgan-produced film showed its best BO performance on Sunday and Monday, doing good business in Mumbai and CPCI region. However, the saucy Kareena Kapoor and ‘Wanted’ Salman Khan couldn’t save Main Aur Mrs Khanna from the box office doom.
The film managed Rs 1.25 crore approx on Friday, approx Rs 1 crore on Saturday and Rs 2 crore net on Sunday for a weekend total of only Rs 4.25 crore approx. Chances are that the movie will continue its poor run as the other two films ‘All The Best’ and ‘Blue’ are turning out to be the viewers’ hot favourite.
So, with not-so-big releases on the coming Friday, it is certain that both ‘All The Best’ and ‘Blue’ will benefit at the BO.

how did tue hold up? is this going to be one of those 60-70% drops in week 2. with london dreams and aladdin coming next week – this has just one week to make some money. how much does this movie have to make to be a Hit. 33-35 week 1 is quite bad and if it falls 60% – then its about 12-13cr week 2. movie will end up at around 50-55cr – which wud be a flop/avg in my book

akshay seriously needs to look at his cost model. his movies seem to be much more expensively mounted so even if he does 40-50cr business (as in KI and blue) – they are considered flops. compare to srk’s movies like cdi, rab ne etc. of course mnik will be the daddy of ‘em all from a cost perspective

Yes, Beld , Akki needs to look into this.
He still commands a sizable opening(dont know how though), little tuning on his behalf and doing a bit more economical and senisble movies and he will be back to success.
Action Replay could be a fresh start, though he might see a success as soon as DDD.

Beld, next week(23rd to 29th) was kept free for these 3 diwali movies, LD and Alladin are on 30th.
But yeah seems like Blue is going to take fall anytime(as soon as tuesday, lol).
Good thing is MAMK will be taken off this weekend from most of the screens, but i guess that will help ATB more than Blue.

Anything less than 60+ cr should be considered an underperformer for Blue(yeah thats the level of stakes at hands).
Sudhar Jaa Akki.

See, about cross over audience, I don’t think Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert have any kind of desi audience, but they only times they covered BW was when they showed feud between Amitabh and SRK, twice, and latest SRK airport fiasco.
Even if you forget the cheers they get, since their audience is more like a mob
, still you can pretty much see that there is some palpable interest, and majorly for SRK, and somewhat for Amitabh.
I don’t know whether Akki has damaged any of that interest in BW, but SRK has genuinely established, thats no exaggeration. Or maybe, SRK is reaping the rewards of the interest BW has generated off late…
