One of my all time favorites…

Tere bina zindagi se koyi, shikwa, to nahi, shikwa nahi, shikwa nahi, shikwa nahi

Tere bina zindagi se koyi, shikwa, to nahi..

Yeah, what a soundtrack this film had: this song, Is Mod Se Jaate Hain, and Tum Aa Gaye Ho…

    Love these lyrics in particular:

“Tuym jo kehdo to aaj ki raat chand doobega nahin
    Chand ko rokh lo
Raat ki baat hai, aur zindagi baaqi to nahin…”

Wah CoolP, awesome choice. Aandhi really is one hell of a soundtrack – the three duets are unbelievable songs, where the singing, words and music combine to make masterpieces.
    Really love the movie too.

Goosebump inducing music and the lyrics by Gulzar are sublime. Thanks!

Rudresh: this song is so good categories gaye bhaad mein! :-)

Kidding aside, I see what you mean, in that this is more a song of loss rather than a “straight” love song. Although, personally, the best love stories are those of loss (I should say that for me, all love stories resonate only if they are ultimately about lost loves), and hence I would classify this among the love songs…

Another song of lost love is Kahin Door Jab Din Dhal Jaaye – Rajesh Khanna touching a pressed flower in a book, the sadness of his life nearing an end, but also the loss of love, was very moving.

Why isn’t it a romantic song?

What is the Bollywood meaning (or for the matter any) of a romantic story.

    1. Two people meet, fall in love and stay together in love
    2. Two people meet, fall in love, fall out of love and then reunite again to stay together in love

Doesn’t this song follow the same course, when Sanjeev Kumar sings “Tuym jo kehdo to aaj ki raat chand doobega nahin
Chand ko rokh lo, Raat ki baat hai, aur zindagi baaqi to nahin…”

Isn’t it the character’s move forward to reunite (after the long separation)

I think this is the best most romantic song ever (without the cliched DIL, DHADKAN, JIGAR etc etc)

Kahin Door Jab Din Dhal Jaaye is a personal favorite; in general, I like the later Mukesh’s voice more than the early Mukesh’s voice: the former is richer and better rounded (although, barring Anand, it is the earlier Mukesh who has most of the legendary songs)…

Q, for me also the best story are those of loss.reason may be
neuro-chemical reaction which affect the heart in such a way that no other feeling can do that.

“Jee mein aata hai, tere daamun mein sar chupa ke hum,
    rote rahein, rote rahein…
Teri bhi aankon mein aasuon ki nami to nahi…”

Is gaane ka har lavz itna gehra, bhaari or dardila hai, IMHO the most dardiley words ever sung in bwood..dard itna ki it leaves one crying for days…
Seriously, this song must rank among the topmost of all Dard bhare mohabbat ke nagme.
    Bravo, Simply Bravo!
