I heard John was part of the movie a few months before. But the project looks interesting.

Any idea on when Paanch is going to release? June 2009 was the time it should have got released. But BW strike happened and the release got delayed.

I don’t know how far this is true but Mid-Day has same thing to say.

According to the grapevine, Oscar winning director Danny Boyle is all set to present a film directed by Anurag Kayshap.

The two grew close since the time Danny introduced a new camera to Kayshap for his last film Dev D.

    Dream project

A source in the industry reveals, “Kayshap has had a dream project ready since the time he was working on No Smoking. Called Bombay Velvet, this multistarrer once had John Abraham cast in the lead role.

Now, there is a strong buzz that Anurag is in talks with Aamir Khan to play the lead in his period flick set in the early 1940s in Mumbai (then Bombay).” The source further adds, “Kayshap had run the idea of this film through Boyle when he was down in Mumbai promoting his multi-Oscar winning film Slumdog Millionaire last year.

He has since agreed to simply present the film so that the movie gets a far better chance in the international market. Aamir, on the other hand, has apparently heard the script but is still to give his elusive nod to the project. He will be surely tempted to say yes now as the film is going to be presented by Boyle.”

A spokesperson for Aamir says the actor has not been approached for the project yet.

It looks like 3 Idiots will be releasing on Christmas. If it works (I think it will), it will be a magical spell for Aamir Khan after the stupendous success of Taare Zameen Par and Ghajini in 2007 and 2008 respectively. There was a time when SRK’s films (DDLJ,DTPH,KKHH,Mohabbatein,K3G,KHNH,VZ,Don and OSO) were becoming big grossers when released during the time of Eid and Diwali, now Christmas and Aamir Khan seem to be auguring and working out very well.

Out of MNIK, Kites and 3 Idiots, it is 3 Idiots that I am the most sure about delivering what it promises. I mean MNIK and Kites may work, or they may not. But 3 Idiots surely will. One doesx not know how biga success it will be. But there is zero chance of failure.

MNIK,3I and Kites have equal chance of failure and success..Period…

All the three have the capabilities to open big (SRK have slide edge because of iverseas clout)..Rest all depends upon the content…

Moreover my gut feeling says law of avgs might just catch up with Hirani this time :)

karan Johar has alreday bore the brunt of Law of avearages in MKANK….

Jokes aside,i am eagerly waiting for 3 Idiots…Its actually Hirani, the entire starcast and “”5 point some one”" connection makes it the most awaited and interesting movie after MNIK in next one year..

Somehow, the relative non-performance of Kaminey and LAK doesnt augur well for these 3 biggies. I know that the argument will be made about Shahid/Saif not having the BO pull. But both these movies had good starts, which kinda fizzled.
I tend to think of myself as the middle of the bell curve kind of viewer, ie the bread-n-butter audience which film-makers depend on. I liked both these movies, and really expected them to click hugely, but surprised by their performance. I really wonder if its a sign of the times. The markets may be exploding, but if you scratch the surface, there is a lot of economic anxiety.

    Nykavi,

Good points…But its been a pattern. No non-SRK,Aamir and HR movies in recent times have trended well after a good opening….(Except Welcome)..Its only a very few good movies which have trended well…

First weekened is basically a function of hype. After that i believe non of the stars in BW (Except SRK,Aamir and HR) have that loyal fanbase to make the audince watch the movies after the first weekened…

So i believe if the three biggies (3I,MNIK,Kites) are atleast decent you will see a big openeing and good trending…
