My deal with Fox Studios is historic: Karan Johar

Filmmaker Karan Johar dismisses reports that his deal with Fox Star Studios for his forthcoming Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol-starrer is worth $20 million. He says the deal is not about the money, but an attempt to expand the reach of Hindi-language cinema with My Name Is Khan.

“Let me tell you the amount mentioned is nowhere near being a realistic one. The deal between Star Fox Studios, my company [Dharma Productions] and Red Chillies is an internal matter and can’t be discussed in public. What makes this deal so historic is not the money involved, but the attempt to cross the diaspora with a Hindi-language film,” Karan said.

He also rubbished reports that Fox is trying to give the Islamic world a positive image in the West by buying My Name Is Khan.

    Well Even a CCCC only had 125 theatres in USA, even though it was a warner bros movie.

    Now MNIK has a more universal theme, lets see how much can FOX extend the reach. I will be surprised above anything 200 theatres.

    By the way does any one know how is this FOX deal any different from the Warner Bros/Sony deals bollywood has been seeing, because it seems Karan Johar is sounding as its something never done before.

    Now everybody in INdia knows how a third grade political broker Amar singh is..

    After SRK issue he has jumped in to the reliance Gas dipsute bandwagon..what ashame tghis fellow is…

    Well regarding his comment about SRK i dont think Amitabh has anything do with it…Its all about SP and Congress thing..Since Congress backed SRK ..the broker jumped the bandwagon as he has not yet forgotten what a royal snub Congress has given to them this time while forming the govt..Also it has everything to do with Rahul and congress’ increasing power at UP which is making both Mulayam and Mayawati jittery….

    Karan Johar wants to minimise the risk for MNIK.If he admits thatit is sold for 98 crores then even at 80 crores gross it is a flop.So it will be declared as a hit even at 60 crs.

    For Blue, MNIK, Kites, 3i:

    If it nets 60Cr+ in India within 10 days or goes on to make 80 Cr+, it will be a hit in my books.
