Not much of surprise here. More or less same as what Boxoffice India had reported as far as the key centers are concerned, Mumbai and Kolkata have incomplete collections though.North in particular seems to have under performed.

Delhi,Noida,Ghaziabad and Gurgaon have not done as per the expectations. With the exception of Ghaziabad which has incomplete collections, Kambakkhat Ishq has lagged behind New York in the other three.

Thanks for the quick posting Som.

Some of the centers are not completely reported.
ps: With proper audit, producers (in previous cases also) wouldn’t have gone claiming atrocious numbers.
ps1: Film did decently but the pricing/budget would have made the difference (Komal is claiming 20% loss on investment).

LOL – i knew FI will finally give the real picture. I am sure Rudresh will find this set of data really interesting.
I will post a blown up analysis on this.

20% loss on investment for Eros. Not a rosy picture

Film Information has hardly given any numbers to come to a conclusion. This is one of the rare occasions where Komal has reported less than Taran.
Mind you I am a Film Information subscriber from 2003, and for the first time I am seeing 53 unreported numbers from Bombay-Thane. There must be some reason and we will ask Komal bhai abt it.

Tango – Komal at many occasions gives incomplete centers – specially for Mumbai/Thane. Check NY or D6.
If you can read the numbers properly – then yes this is conclusive.

only Pune and Kolkata number cant be used from FI as they are incomplete.
As for Mumbai+Thane – I am going by Taran’s 6.19 cr figure, which seems to be ok if I extrapolate Mumbai+Thane from FI data.

Ach bhai – “If you can read the numbers properly – then yes this is conclusive.”
Yes I think I can read conclusively. And that is why I said what I said above
What I have said above is “for the first time I am seeing 53 unreported numbers from Bombay-Thane”
And to elaborate, I mean such high unreported numbers I have not seen, not that Komal bhai gives complete numbers. But if you can give me another example where (from 2003 till date) say there are 53 unreported numbers by Komal for Bombay-Thane I will take back my words.

Tango – It happened recently
CCTC (55 (29+26))
D6 (51 (29+22)
for KI – 62 unreported (29+33)
Interesting – It always happens with Mumbai 29 unreported (In mumbai there are 29 halls not willing to give data)and Thane 14 reported (at same time he has contacts with only 14 in Thane and rest of them become offline).

Oh I take back my words abhi isi time.
“It always happens with Mumbai 29 unreported (In mumbai there are 29 halls not willing to give data)and Thane 14 reported (at same time he has contacts with only 14 in Thane and rest of them become offline).”
Yes RKS if it happens rt under the noses of where the trade experts are, it is fishy for me, one way or the other. Either Komal is not satisfied with the numbers provided, or the cinema ppl are not willing to give Komal numbers unlike Taran. And that is why we intend to ask Komal the same this Sunday (as he is free on that day).

Tango Bhai – Give one one valid reason why FI numbers for KI is not conclusive for KI now?

“Tango Bhai – Give one one valid reason why FI numbers for KI is not conclusive for KI now?”
I have said what had to say, but aapne pooch to bolta hoon (aap ke liye jaan hazir hai Ach bhai).
Due to a high number of unreported numbers (definately for valid reasons as Komal is no manipulator like Taran), New York first week reported is 17.48 crore with a good print average of 6.13 lakhs. And from the same source we have KI reported as 16.41 crores with a much lower print average of 4.92 lakhs, though common sense says, KI has crossed New York almost everywhere and at each major centre comprehensively.
I know the first answer will be “Higher prints” but I will once again quote Film Information itself (dated 4-7-2008) page 26, where it is said that KI has actually opened with 1,550 screens worldwide (“unlike the media going ballistic with 2,000″).
“Of these 1,280 screens are in India and 270 abroad.”
And so I find things confusing and inconclusive, with the reported numbers.

In fact I am so confused this week that I intend to resort (approximately) to the Akshay Shah formula

Again Tango Bhai – I cant see any validity in your claim at all! Maybe you have not looked into the numbers closely!
I have got 60 common centers between NY and KI (it was much less before FI data) … and KI leads in these centers as against NY. As I said I am doing a blown out analysis and will soon post it with all the numbers.

Not really. Taran has reported 9cr in Delhi which is absolutely wrong.
