Guess who have turned the latest buddies in Bollywood? None other than Akshay Kumar and John Abraham. Elated with the success of their films Kambakkht Ishq and New York respectively they can’t help singing praises for each other.
The two films, which saw Kareena Kapoor opposite Akshay and Katrina Kaif paired with John, have been responsible for getting the industry out of a slump it had got into since the beginning of 2009.
Akshay Kumar, who is delighted with his Kambakkht Ishq said, “I am extremely happy for New York and especially John. The film brought an end to the bad run that Bollywood was facing for such a long time. I’m glad that Kabir (Khan) came up with a well-made film that brought audiences back to theatres.”
Akshay and John had worked together in the 2005 laugh riot Garam Masala. Audiences liked the two together and it went on to become a hit at the box office.
John too was effusive in his praise for Akshay.
“I love Akshay. When he is happy, I’m also happy. I’m so glad that Kambakkht Ishq is performing so well. He deserved it. He is not just my senior but also a very good man,” John said.

Good to see industry men rallying behind each other once again. It really touched a low when OSO and Saawariya released.

Yes saawariya vs OSO and now recently Rab ne vs Ghajini wars left a bad taste.

Whenever two big films clash there would be some bad taste…The media wont allow them to release peacefully…

SRK creates scene against any movie that releases on the same day as his. He is not worthy of the King title (anyway it’s gone to a certain Mr Hit Kumar now)

“SRK creates scene against any movie that releases on the same day as his.”
??? I don’t remember any other SRK movie than OSO which was pitted against each other wherein SRK was openly spoke about comepetition. And since it was OSO which was successful people have conveniently forgotten the digs taken by SLB and gang on Farah and her style of film making. Sometimes losers get the sympathy.

Hit kumar???LOL…certain useless kumar has delivered 65 flops out of 85 and 4 flops in last two years……
“SRK creates scene against any movie that releases on the same day as his.”
Whatever it is…When some other dufferes (Read aamir, salman, akshay etc etc) releases their movie against SRK head on..srk demolishes them at the BO…

Last December we saw how the competition behaved. We also saw that Billu could not be saved by the ‘demolisher’.
Name calling the competition as duffers may bring about some satisfaction and solace. Whatever helps….
It would be economically unwise to have two big films opening on same day; should be avoided even if ego issues are involved.
Except for fanatical supporters, most fans will want to watch any eagerly awaited film.
But economics decides that X’s film will be watched this week and Y’s film a week or two or three later.

Yes..everybody saw that..All of us saw how a certrain Aamir khan was dishing out lies after lies during the release of Ghajini..we saw how he was calling the names of his competition during that time…
“”We also saw that Billu could not be saved by the ‘demolisher’.”"
Lol..singling out a movie where the “”demolisher”" was not even in the lead role…But again i dont expect anything more from some…

What we saw last year December was RNBDJ being under reported, constantly being termed as ’surprisingly low opener’ which has already dropped etc … while the movie trended really well.
Media members obviously under the pay from Gajini PR gang, harassed Aditya Chopra.
Your Aamir was there in TV, making jokes on SRK … ‘I know what SRK is gonna say about Rab Ne’s box collections … 50, 75, 100..’ etc .. for which some stupid reporter laughed.
And the loser boasted in an interview about how SRK’s movies are outperforming (Rab ne…) and Billu flopped …
Aamir fans are suffering from Short term memory loss. It was Aamir who set the standards for unhealthiest competition with fellow actors.

When these happened, some here went on with their imagination that SRK must have done something wrong for gathering so much contempt from an otherwise well behaved Aamir. How convenient!

I think sometimes these stars take these digs at each other with mutual consent
After all as they say there is nothing like a bad publicity and ofcourse media takes up these stories instantly.
That is true that Shahrukh / Aamir are one of the best when it comes to marketing their films. Shahrukh had always been good and Aamir too has been doing well for the last few years.

I am not a fanatical supporter–far from it, very far from it. I am a staunch Aamir supporter, and defender when necessary, which often happens whenever, ever so often SRK supporters go on a rampage-rant.
And as for all that talk about RNBDJ earnings being under-reported, all that wild talk about ‘Ghajini PR gang’, harrassing of Aditya Chopra–now that’s some imaginative support for one actor while the other chap gets the third degree.
I don’t pretend to be an insider; simply a lay viewer who supports one, but does not talk ill of anybody else. And this much I do know–that here in Chennai a group of young girls(known to me), people who generally watch the latest Surya-SRK-Aamir flick—these typical viewers have not bothered to watch RNBDJ, either in theatres or on video, tv, anywhere. Whatever little they have seen or heard about it has noe enthused this small section of the Indian film audience. They did not watch Billu either. Well, one did watch Billu–and ranted away at the film. And they’ve all watched Ghajini.
QED.

This is clearly not a fanatic fan. Maybe I can send lalsub the names of all the people who saw RNBDJ and did not see Ghajini? What does this prove? Not any sort of QED, but the fact that it is all about sample size before one can make a conclusion. That conclusion can be made from the BO collections of both films – they were both seen by a LARGE number of people. Maybe Ghajini made more money, as all of lalsub’s acquaintances only saw it and shunned RNBDJ.

Why are Aamir fans feigning ignorance of the whole matter? Running out of excuses are we?
None of the actors have ever had the crassness to name flops of a fellow actor to prove that he is bigger. The great Aamir did it shamelessly. Want me to put up links?

I can name sections of people only a few years older to mine, who have never heard of DCH, have been bored to death trying to tolerate Akshay Khanna’s brooding expressions and didn’t even want to finish watching it. But they have watched every SRK movie.
One of my acquaintances said ‘Ask him take care of his kids first before advising others’ in response to Aamir’s sermons in TZP. I can name them too. But what am I trying to prove here?

By this place do you mean NG, lalsub? Maybe you can count off the anti-Aamir people and help me out. And none of the posters made any broad generalizations (with QED) based on their neighbors and friends. This is all based on what the media tells us, not how we or our close circle perceives any actor or star.

Bash–please don’t even joke about this matter.I would never write things like what you quote.I started writing on messageboards, simply to indulge in my twin passions for writing and cinema.Started off on a popular America based site–and discovered it peopled by a pro-SRK group that was continuouslt belittling Aamir Khan. So I found myself defending my first favourite against my second favourite.
I used to browse NG, found it highly intelligent and impartial. Then I started writing here, about a year back. Just my luck–this place is no more the impartial place it was. And all I’m doing is defending, what are IMO,unfair comments against one person.
Maybe it’s best to stay away as much as posible.

Common, I have seen you commenting on SRK in this forum in the same bitchy lanes as every other member. If you were more of a cinema reviewer than an Aamir Khan sympathiser, you wouldn’t have replied to my comments here.
I was merely reacting to Gorilla’s and Anna’s indirect hints that dirty competition is propelled by SRK alone. SRK has had many many films releasing along with his Diwali releases over the years. But has never gone down to the levels of Aamir in terms of talking bad about the other film, box office status of the other actor or even judging the character of the other actor.
Even the OSO and Saawariya war of words were between Farah and SLB. He has only promoted his own movies and refrained to talk about the other movie (exception being OSO)
I dunno truths like these get forgotten. I guess its because most SRK fans of NG are also Aamir fans exceptions being Raj, myself and Neelu.
There is absolutely nothing partial about it. The things I have quoted are embarrassingly true. Well infact it wasn’t even embarrassing for some. For instance, I knew some were delighted about the SRK spoof in Ghajini. I know there is a guilty pleasure.
After all Aamir fans had been the underdogs for so many years. So when Aamir exposed his jealously through various (Supposedly intelligent) digs at SRK, they loved it and wanted more.
