It looks like Suchita Bhatia who has leveled charges of plagiarism against the makers of New York
is in trouble.
Yashraj Films, the producers of New York, have decided to take legal action against Bhatia for alleging that the script which was made into New York was originally suggested to Yashraj three years ago by Bhatia.
Confirming these developments New York writer Kabir Khan says, “This is really unfortunate. I wonder which cave this girl was living in so far to suddenly wake up five days after our film released to realize that New York is about three friends against a 9/11 backdrop.”
Kabir sees this as nothing but opportunistic timing. “It’s a great method of getting her 15 minutes of fame. Yes, we’re planning to sue her and make an example of this sort of post-success harassment that filmmakers go through.”
The director is very angry. “Why does one have to keep fighting to protect one’s integrity? By suing this girl I hope to discourage such frivolous charges in the future.”

Good such characters (like that music director Ram Sampath who blackmailed Rakesh Roshan just before Krazzy 4) deserve to be put in a dungeon.

I don’t think Sampath was wrong to sue Rakesh Roshan; but yes he timed it to get maximum benefit. Same with Ghajini, If Allu Arvind didn’t get the rights before starting then he needs to share the profits.

Of course people like Ram Sampath, Bhatia opportunely do it but it’s a good thing they at least do it. The more and more Bollywood film makers/music directors get sued for plagiarism, the better will be the future of movies and music in terms of quality.

RKS- Rakesh Roshan had procured the right from Sony(who had the rights and permitted), but due to technical lacunae in the agreement between Sampath-Sony Ram Sampath seized and exploited the opportunity.
If it was a straight lift (with no Sony and all the legfalities) I would have never defended Roshan.

Tango – You can appropriate some blame on Rakesh Roshan for taking Sony’s word (not as person but manager). For that matter Rajesh Roshan is one of the original Pritam (Link). I wouldn’t be surprised the tune was lifted without credits and when they found themselves in mess they got the backdated certificate from Sony.
