The clip will be featured on the June 1 DVD release of the film, which won last year’s Oscar for the Best Picture.

The heart-warming film tells the story of a young boy, Jamal Malik (Dev Patel), a street child from the Juhu slums in Mumbai who gets the opportunity to win 20 million rupees on a television game show. The questions he is asked on the show prompt flashbacks of his life, focussing particularly on his desperate search for his childhood friend Latika (Freida Pinto).

The beautiful Latika is living with crime lord, Javed. When she attempts to rendezvous with Jamal she is recaptured by Javed’s men. This dramatic scene shows the good-natured Jamal resorting – uncharacteristically – to violence in his desperate attempt to try and hunt down Latika.
