After the super-success of the villain (John Abraham in Dhoom, and Hrithik Roshan in Dhoom 2), the part of the anti- hero has become the most coveted role in B-Town.

Name-tossing

Every now and then, big names are being tossed around as being nearly signed for this role and now the latest rumour is that Shah Rukh Khan will feature in the role in this action thriller.

A source who claims to be in the know swears, “Yash Raj Films have been going through a lull period as none of their on-the-floor movies or their completed ones are generating any curiosity from the buyers as well as the audiences. SRK has always been a quick-fix solution for the Chopras.

When- ever their mega boat is rocked, good friend Adi Chopra calls on SRK and the actor steps in to bail out his dost.” This last happened with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

Now an insider claims claim that SRK has been approached by the banner to play the main villain in Dhoom 3, “Last week, SRK was called in for a tentative one-line narration; he was impressed and agreed to be part of the film.”

Although one wonders when SRK will find the time to finish this film, which reportedly starts some time next year. SRK is very charged about his superhero flick and Don 2, which he wants to finish in 2010, along with his home production Happy New Year, to be directed by Farah Khan, so where is the time to fit in Dhoom 3? It is also not clear who will direct D:3 as Sanjay Gadhvi has had a fallout with YRF.”

Som- I would love to see SRK going negative, but such news/rumours have come up repeatedly

1)SRK to play Villain in D3

2)SRK is going to campaign for Congress.

But on all the previous occasion it has turned out to be wrong.

I guess there is a good reason why this rumor is going around forever now. After D2, they need someone to pick up the series from the cheese factory it fell in. Though HR looked great as queen Victoria, still I guess the movie was CRAP

Doesnt matter if its SRK or aamir or Saif … dhoom series was and will remain cheese … there is no redemption without intentions.

But frankly, all of SRk’s upcoming movies are hardly interesting, be it dhoom or a superhero movie or happy new year or a don. MNIK is his best bet, but then Kjo is the director … alas!

Naah, MNIK is going to be as crappy as any movie has ever been. If you thought KANK was bad, be sure to watch MNIK
Only movie I guess he can redeem himself will be Ra1, though I don’t think he wil be playing a superhero, but just one VFX oriented movie.
Though SRK has already played a superhero in one Hindi movie, which was a hit as well, Mr Lajawab :D

Out of the superstars , SRK have the best lineup at this momnet.

MNIK,DON2,HNW,Ra1 and D3(If it is true) are all BB material and even half of the movies succed SRK would retain his poistion at the top with ease..

Now aamir have a 3 idiots (Which is a BB material)..next what??

Coming back HR..he has got Kites(Which i believe is BB material) But after that he has got a movie SLB(Arguably the most overrated director in BW) If we look at SLBs s filmography then barring devdas ,none of his movies are outright hits….So there is abig question mark about his abilities to deliver commercial success…

Regarding akshay..I dont consider him a superstar..its futile to discuss about him…

“”"Raj – after SLB’s, Hrithik has Krissh2. If Don2 can work for SRK why can’t Krissh2. I think SLB did go overboard in Sawariya, but rest of his work is definitely noteworthy, be it HDDCS, Khamoshi, Devdas or Black. So yes I am looking forward to SLB’s next.”"

Julie,If you read my post carefully,i did question SLBs ability to deliver commecrcial success…Rest all parameteres are subjective in nature…

    Julie,

I am not aware of Krish 2 happening any time soon………Havent heard anything on Krissh 2…If this happens ,i am sure it would be a BB material considering the success of KMG and Krish 1…

I would love to see Ranbir kapoor abd Imraan Khan as the two villains against- Abhishek and Uday- That would make it interesting
    YRF- are you listening ??

The press is at it again … looking at how the villains in the last two movies are still glorified and godshipped by the media and ignoring abhishek … i have doubts if abhishek will say yes to dhoom 3.

If aditya chopra has srk in mind, then again the limelight of th movie will be on the villain.

Also SRK wud be trying to do a hrithik here – a superhero movie followed by a dhoom movie … it will be a bad career move for SRK as this stage to try to emulate a next generation star.

Agree on the IQ of that family … they must be nuts to allow Ash do another one with Hrithik … considering the current sex-maniac image of hrithik (a natural fallout of being sex deprived by that anemic wife of his) … all the media gupchup will reach a crescendo when bhansali’s handicapped movie takes off.

The last media frenzy at time of JA only talk of extreme COLD WAR between Hritik and Aish. So if that trend continues now they will be portrayed as ready to kill each other.

After all the debacles of the last few yrs, the lamecop role in D3 is about all Abhishek will be left with.
As for SRK not competing with a nextgen star, I think that this so called nextgen (barring HR, and perhaps Shahid/Ranbir to a certain extent) has been a total letdown. With the prevailing 1-2 film max per yr model, and the relative weakness of this nextgen, I wont be surprised if SRK/Aamir/Akshay etc play younger characters well into their 50s.

yeah – its surprising that newbies like ranbir and imran doing one film a year … they will be in 60s before they achieve superstar status (if they do).

Hrithik is lucky is that way … one decade after his debut, he still has no competition from any younger guy.

aamir I believe will play college kid and do campus movies till he is too old to stand.

Never heard of any cold war between HR Ash … but it was reported that hrithik was pissed at snr bachchan for keeping his bahu under scrutiny.

As for the media, they were two eager to capture Ash’s radiant face when HR got the best actor at Screen … also when they embraced in congratulations.

    Thadki hrithik.

ROFL! The media has canned shots that are shown at the appropriate time – for all we know at that time Aish may have been weeping buckets at hubby being a loser.

Nykavi,it appears that current stars will play lead roles into their 50s.It has always been the norm.As long as one doesn’t restrict himself to romantic genre, a lot of oppurtunities are open for 50s actors.Recently there is a
trend to label 50s actors as old but this will go away soon.
