NEW DELHI: Singh is definitely king. At least for the taxman. Filmstar Akshay Kumar has emerged as the top taxpayer in Bollywood for 2008-09,

narrowly pipping Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) to the numero uno position.

Kumar paid a total advance tax of Rs 31 crore in the financial year against Rs 12.5 crore in 2007-08, a whopping 148% more than what he paid in the previous financial year, thanks to his recent box office hits. That means Kumar’s total earnings for the period were a tad above Rs 100 crore!

On the other hand, King Khan’s tax payout declined marginally — by 1.69% — to Rs 30.9 crore in 2008-09 compared to Rs 31.5 crore in the fiscal before. Together, Kumar and Khan account for nearly 60% of the total Rs 107 crore forked out by Bollywood’s top 10 advance taxpayers.

    Can you beleive it – Akshay has pipped SRK by 1 lac. :D
    I am surprised to see Rajesh Khanna and Himesh Reshammiya above Amitabh.

    As clear as Tasveer 8×10 ;-)

    If akshay wants to do better tax planning he should produce his movies – then he can write off some of the losses ;-)

    Rajesh Khanaa Always pay high taxes but what business he do no one knows. But one thing is sure he is a rich rich guy and as family (He and Akshay) they are biggest.

    Beld ..spot on…This list proves again that SRK is the higest earner in BW considering akki has to return a bulk of his money taken from producres as his movies are bombing left right and cntre…..

    Its surprising Aamir is not in the list inspite of Ghajni and some high profile ads…I am sure he must be in the bracket of 15 cr tax payer..
