If reports are to be believed, Akshay Kumar is fast winning the hearts of not just NRIs but even the ‘gora log’! His London premier of CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA saw attendance from a substantial number of British nationals which wasn’t just restricted to people of Indian origin.

Informs our source who was present at this red carpet event. ‘The premier was a massive success and what was even heartening to see was the fact that lot of Brits too were inclined to see the film after all the noise it was making over the last few days. Also, Warner Bros. have a massive clout all over and they ensured that the film reaches out to people other than NRIs too.’

The source also said that more than 70% of the audience comprised of non-Indians, though it does seem a little difficult to digest considering the fact that how could Bollywood crazy Indians have made way for those patrons to walk in who didn’t even understand the language!

Amitabh Bachchan, the man of the moment for the CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA premier walked in a little late but made sure that he mingled with the cast and crew later.

Meanwhile in India too, the movie is garnering superb response for the paid preview shows. After garnering a huge number of shows on Thursday, it is already seeing plans being booked fast with single screen New Excelsior theater in Mumbai recording the highest ever paid preview collections. A 1000 odd seater, it is said to be house full already with demand for additional shows pouring in.

‘Yes, GHAJINI was an event but CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA is turning out to be one as well’, says a trade insider, ‘People associated with the film have upped the tempo in last 10 days or so and the film is looking rock solid to take on another extraordinary beginning at the ticket counters after RAB NE BANA DI JODI and GHAJINI.’

    I have been maintining all along that the buzz just before the release of CC2C will make the film an event just the way things happenned for SIK or Ghajini. Now over to the reviews to guage the merit and public response to guage the WOM.
    My opinion is that CCTC will on an average fet 3/5 rating while audince response will be similar to that of SIK. (below avg to above avg)
