All three of these are very interesting pieces– Ferguson’s is of course the most comprehensive and useful in terms of providing a historical perspective (I might add that unlike many other bandwagon writers, Ferguson had issued warnings about the state of the financial markets quite some time back). The New Yorker piece of course brought a smile to the face of this “post-modernist” (it isn’t often one sees Derrida and Wall Street referenced in the same magazine piece, although the triumph of the “virtual” that increasingly has been contemporary economic life has been something that more than one European thinker (from Derrida to Eco and perhaps others) has at least touched upon…
