  1. If vvc’s movies were half as good as his promos - he wud be the most exciting hindi movie maker for me. Somehow his snobbishness gets in the way probably. Love all these promos - esp the first one and talisman. Any idea on when they will release?

  2. I don’t even think his promos are particularly good. It’s just that he talks his ass off about any given film, heralding them far too much every single time. I recall when Parineeta was coming out and VVC’s interviews and statements made it seem that, (simply because the film was taking place in a Bengali context) we were witnessing the second coming of Ray.

  3. Most of the movies look interesting, hopefully movies are as good as what these posters suggest.I liked the first one and the Munna bhai one the most.

  4. The third Munnabhai film should be a delight.

  5. Talisman = Drona , good luck :)

  6. lol @ goodfella

  7. Who stars in Broken Horses? Who’s the director anyone?

I think VVC is a darn good filmmaker. He suffers from foot-in-the-mouth disease but that should not take anything away from his credentials as a producer/director!

Eklavya, for the most part, was a virtuoso effort in film making.

  8. Nice picture of “3 Idiots”, but there’s no Madhavan here! And Aamir playing Ryan, the cool one, is the one who gets hitched with the Prof’s daughter? That’s a big departure from the book.

  9. I wonder why some of the greatest directors get indulgent in the visuals rather than the content. IMO that’s been the case with VVC. Hope this Taalismaan is his comeback to form.

Eeks! Aamir plays Hari in ‘Three Idiots’. I hope this is not an adaptation of the book.

  10. Obviously Aamir would have wanted a cool character along with the meaty part too. Has ample chances of getting away with gimmicks yet again.

  11. I don’t think I’ve ever liked (entirely liked) a single film by VVC that I’ve seen. They’ve always been hugely uneven efforts. The Munnabhai series remains the best thing he’s ever been associated with.

  12. Aamir’s hair is looking a bit wierd here.
I expect this film to be a very good one - not least because I think Raj Kumar Hirani is one of the most delightful story-tellers. If there is anyone who at all comes closest to Hrishikesh Mukherjee, it is Hirani.

Also, the makers have gone hoarse saying this is not an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s Five Point Someone but it pleases some people to attach his name as closely as they can to this project because over the time, Bhagat indeed has come to represent all that is low-brow about English literature - though I do consider him an important cultural phenomenon in the literary scene.
FPS is easily Bhagat’s best book. But agree that Chetan’s representation of women is appaulingly simplistic and narrow and Hirani’s portrayal of them is anything but that! So Kareena and the audiences can relax!

Here’s the link to my book review of his last book and his interview

  13. I don’t know for sure if Aamir and Kareena are paired but it would make scant commercial sense to have such huge stars and not have them together at all. I do know there’s a scene of Kareena and Sharman getting married in the film.

  14. What’s Broken Horses? And that ‘Ferrari Ki Sawari’ is something related to Sachin, I think…remember reading about it somewhere.

  15. Arun - those are the 2 that have piqued my interest the most. Talisman also - I like historicals.
Btw what happens if anu chopra disses one of these movies in her reviews. I wud love to be a fly in their bedroom that day ;-)

  16. Aamir looks emaciated?

  17. It looks like Aamir’s head is stuck on someone else’s body…anyway 3 Idiots and Munnabhai 3 from this lot for sure. Anything with Hirani directing is worth a watch.

  18. The Broken Horses poster is good though…some info here

Vinod Chopra, reliance to make ‘Broken Horses’

Vinod Chopra Films and Reliance BIG Entertainment have inked a multiple film production deal to co-produce feature films over the next three years. The first feature film under the production deal is a mainstream English language film, BROKEN HORSES, which will be directed by Vinod Chopra himself, while the second film is TAALISMAAN, to be directed by Ram Madhvani.

Chopra’s BROKEN HORSES, with a screenplay based on an original story by Chopra himself, is the work of several award-winning writers including Abhijat Joshi (LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI, EKLAVYA and 64 SQUARES) and Jason Richman (BANGKOK DANGEROUS, SWING VOTE) and legendary BAFTA winner and Academy Award nominated screenwriter and executive producer, Nick Pileggi as script consultant (GOODFELLAS, CASINO and AMERICAN GANGSTER). Chopra has recently returned from script and development meetings in Los Angeles and scouting locations in New Mexico.

Ram Madhavani’s TAALISMAAN is a love story inspired by the epic novel, ‘Chandrakanta’, written in 1892 by Babu Devkinandan Khatri, which inter-weaves and mixes intoxicating elements of magic and war.

  19. 3 Idiots poster looks like someone has pasted photos of actors over some one else body .

  20. My 2 cents..

BROKEN HORSES: Definetly interesting given Hollywoods involvement with the scripting. I’m thinking this could be the crossover film VVC has wanted to make all his life(it was THE LAST MOVE aka CHESS aka 64 SQUARES before then). Not sure what the cast is here but the film should be interesting enough…specially if he can get a Bachchan/Hoffman pair-up!

3 IDIOTS looks VERY promising…Hirani/Aamir(nuff said)

    TALISMAN=NEXT DRONA!

    MUNNABHAI CHALE AMERIKA=120 crore crosser…

FERRARI KI SAWAARI..smaller film i guess..

  21. anything vidhu vinod chopra is directing, i’m down! bring on the “broken horses”!…lol

    “3 idiots” looks interesting.

this upcoming munnabhai film completes the trilogy. it should be awesome!

  22. I agree Aditya, I like VVC quiet a bit…Ever since VVC’s stance against the “Crab mentality” he seems to have lost a lot of favour at NG:)!
