Diwali 2008 was not expected to bring as much cheer to the film industry as Diwali 2007 due to their not being that huge Diwali release like a Veer Zaara, Don and Om Shanti Om but going by the initial response it looks like Diwali 2008 may be better than 2007. In 2007 Om Shanti Om was a Blockbuster while Saawariya floped.
Golmaal Returns has surpassed all expectations and the way it is going the film will turn out to be a huge hit and if things continue like they are it may emerge the first universal blockbuster of 2008 and biggest hit of 2008.
Golmaal Returns has grossed around 12.50 crore nett in two days and today the film has opened at more single screens while multiplexes having gone from 6-7 shows to 10-12-14. The collections today look likely to better than first two days at 7 crore+. The five day weekend may well gross an unbelievable 31-32 crore nett.
Fashion should also emerge a box office success mainly on the account of good business in multiplexes of metroes. Fashion has also gone from 4-5 shows at multiplexes to 8-10 today and collections are capacities are good even with higher volume of shows especially in Mumbai circuit.
