Aamir, Akki on Christmas? Last year, the Christmas week witnessed the release of WELCOME and TAARE ZAMEEN PAR. Both diametrically opposite films in terms of genre worked big time at the box-office. The films in question also cemented the status of the two stars associated with those films — Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan, respectively.
Now Akshay and Aamir are all set to clash all over again. And it’s Christmas time yet again. Aamir’s GHAJINI is already confirmed for this date and if sources are to be believed, Akshay’s CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA is also eyeing the Christmas week.
“Yes, we’re looking at the date. But right now we are more concerned about the right chain of theatres, since GHAJINI is also arriving on this date. Plus, RAB NE BANA DI JODI [releasing on December 12] would also be retaining many screens. We’ve asked Warner Bros. [partners in C.C.T.C.] to get back to us about it. Only after they are clear vis-à-vis the screens will we take a call,” Nikhil Advani tells me.

Don’t think it’s true.I hope they should not clash, it’s not a TZP vs Welcome deal, lot riding on both movies.Again 3 big movies in a span of 2 weeks is just too much to ask for, does not really make any sense from business point of view. Moreover One does not know when another biggie Yuvraj will get a release.

Looking forward to both the movies on Christmas.

Bad business idea certainly, but will cause a huge upsurge in NG hits that’s for sure!

Yes, not a sensible things to do. Ghajini is already creating huge buzz and will be a tornedo at the boxoffice. Similarly, CCTC is also looking really unique. They should space this out.

Tornado and hurricane on Dec 26th with the Typhoon on Dec 12th! It would be the most crazy month ever for box office!
Comment by Achilles on 26 August 2008:
This will lead to fighting for screens! RNBDJ is not meant to vanish from theaters after 2 weeks … And as far as buzz goes both CCTC and Ghajni is well hyped up to get as wide a release as possible.
If these two comes together, none will be creating new opening records … and unless universally accepted, even the total net will be less than what they can individually get to.
Only silly star-ego can lead to such folly.

I really don’t know whether RNBDJ on 12th Dec’08 is a good business idea in the first place - it is just a normal week-end with no holidays in school…

Am going to go out on a limb here but I think RNBDJ is going to go the KANK way. Will struggle to get past 45-50 crores and that too only because will open reasonably week.
I f proven wrong,I will accpet SRK is the third biggest star today after Aamir and Akki.
Comment by ILG on 26 August 2008:
Sorry meant reasonably big.
Comment by abhishekr on 26 August 2008:
Ilg,i think RNBDJ will open to 50cr!
Comment by satyam on 26 August 2008:
I would be amazed if both films released together.
Comment by jeegs on 26 August 2008:
this is not only bad for two films but even RNBDJ considering it will be only in his third week and with the way films r releasing it will be made to exit even if doing well .
i still dont understand why filmmakers r not spacing there movies well . in first half of every year not many films releases while there is always a cluster in second half .

Bring it on.
Ok….records will not be broken but who cares about records…not the juntaa.
They will love to watch both the movies, esp so when they both turn out to be good.
Watching two different films in black in the same week; it sounds interesting to me.
Yes collections will be affected…but as i said, few crores don’t affect big grossers. Yes…Jay will have a hard time if both “opens huge”.
