Comment by Ravi on 15 August 2008:
Adi might be better off writing his and Rani’s story that might be more original.
Comment by Ravi on 15 August 2008:
Wait KJO has already done that with KALANK.
Comment by Dionysiac on 15 August 2008:
Watched BAH, would have been a pretty entertaining and engrossing movie had the 2nd half not been so lame. The first half is effortless and fun, thanks to some cleverly written dialogues.Overall a good first half, great visuals, hummable music and some competent performance(Deepika looks million bucks
and acts well) from the lead actors make this one a kinda fare which you won’t mind seeing once in a theater. If I were to rate I would have given it a 2/5.
Comment by jayshah on 15 August 2008:
som how much of that 2/5 is for Deepika?
Comment by Ravi on 15 August 2008:
Exactly Jay, Som dear so what would be the rating without Deepika?
Comment by Dionysiac on 15 August 2008:
“som how much of that 2/5 is for Deepika?”
minuscule
Comment by Dionysiac on 15 August 2008:
Ravi bhai:On a serious note, 2/5 is totally based on film’s merits.I don’t need to give extra points to Deepika, her stunning looks and infectious smile have already given me the value for money.
Comment by Dionysiac on 15 August 2008:
As far as the audience reactions are concerned, they seemed to have enjoyed the first half, less enthusiastic in the latter half.
Moreover as it seems the film has taken a very good start(at my place its almost full till sunday), so should sail through at the box office.
Comment by sandy on 15 August 2008:
Watched it today, liked it quite it a bit. Yes, the first half is extremely likeable. Second half starts off brilliantly with Minissha Lamba and Kunal Kapoor enterting the fray - actually this is the most touching part of the film. However, the film does go a bit downhill from here - but never derails completely. The story is well-defined.
I wished Ranbir’s character had evolved better. Also, the song placements aren’t exactly great -esp Khuda Jaane with Deepika and Ranbir. Also, the Lucky Boy song with Bips falls flat.
Yet, I would say this is an entertaining film and Siddharth Anand’s best effort so far. Ranbir Kapoor is a delight and displays wonderfully comic timing. BIpasha and Minissha are well-cast. Kunal Kapoor’s character cleverly subverts the DDLJ paradigm and is one of the film’s main highlights.
Deepika character is the weak link here -the rest of the film pretty much works.
Saw it in a jam packed theatre - audience response was good
Critical verdict: ***
BO verdict: Hit

Is naam mein hi kuch hai…..
Anyhow, I am rather surprised that this movie is good. If it really is the case, then hopefully it restores the trend for YRF to deliver good movies which also are success on BO.
Comment by sandy on 15 August 2008:
Taran’s review is actually accurate this time. I too felt that entire portion in the second half with Ranbir trying to pacify Bips is a waste! That itself consumes about half an hour and is the main reason why the film does not scale the heights it could have. Also, like Taran says, the resolution to the Deepika story is a bit too hurried.
Comment by sandy on 15 August 2008:
The difference though is that Taran went orgasmic while writing the SIK review - which in all fairness was a very weak film.
With BAH, he’s been entirely fair and said it as it is.
Wish he did that more often.
Comment by jeegs on 15 August 2008:
SO BAH seems to be getting the critical appreciation . at boxoffice has GTGH taken better start . heard one reporter saying Salman has won today .
For som ,
Ditto for Deepika. She carries off the most sexy siren type of outfits with this sweet naïve virginal look on her face. She’s at once the girl you want-to-bed and take home to your parents. This is a rare quality and it will take her a long way in her career.

” She’s at once the girl you want-to-bed and take home to your parents. ”
Looks like a very Male statement. Some one called Preeti Arora wrote this??? Preeti’s are usually females!
Comment by Dionysiac on 15 August 2008:
Thanks Jeegs!! It seems some people don’t want my “loov” story to take off.

Anupama Chopra’s review: Bachna Ae Haseeno is unapologetically shallow, highly improbable and despite the occasional kissing, absolutely sanitised. But that’s precisely what we see Yash Raj films for. I recommend that you check- in reality at the door and enjoy this over-blown fantasy

Comment by Ravi on 15 August 2008:
Everyone is not as smart as you Neelu dear.
Comment by Ravi on 15 August 2008:
and that was not meant as a slight dear, as we are friends now.

Do I know you? I am very selective in picking my friends

I don’t know you tell me dear.
By the way Nithya, maybe this Preeti is thinking of doing so.
Comment by imgr8 on 15 August 2008:

Deepa Gahlot’s review: Bachna Ae Haseeno’ is meant for an audience of teeny-boppers, for whom moviegoing is an exercise in giggling, imbibing huge tubs of popcorn and shrieking “so cuuuute, ya” at regular intervals
