so 2 songs are re-done versions of Meenaxi songs…am quite excited about this, especially since I have a great weakness for other “youthful” albums like Kaadal Virus and Sillunu Oru Kaadhal (not for “Boys” though)…

Me too Qalandar! I’ve just ordered it. Thanks for this Aarohi! The man is really dominating both Hindi and Tamil at this point.

Can’t wait to hear this. By the Aarohi it’s his 4rth this year – JA, JTYJN, Ada, and now Sakkarakatti.

Understandable Aarohi since it is easily forgettable! There’s Ishq Ada and Meherbaan which are good, but they both have a been-there-done-that feel. All in all, Ada is one of Rahman’s weakest in a long time.
By the way do you know if the two Meenaxi songs are re-done (like Dekho Na from Swades) or are they just dubbed?

Jesse: Actually I like Ada also, but I agree it has a dated feel to it.
Sakkarakatti: The tamil version of Yeh Rishta is very similar to the original. Tamil version too has been sung by the same singer, but there are minor variations. Chinnama has been sung by Benny Dayal and it’s a bit more different.
The original tracks are quite good. Elay Nehram is a knockout. Stunning string work.
btw, John Themis makes an appearance in the credit list too. I think the last time he worked with ARR was for Dil Se.
