Bachna Ae Haseeno - Music Review

Hey, I’m back at it again. This time around reviewing the music of Bachna Ae Haseeno. I was looking forward to this album since Vishal-Shekhar kept stating in their interviews that this was turning out to be a rocking album. So let’s see if they live up to their word…because lately with De Taali and Bhootnath being their latest albums I think they are not living up to the expectations.

Khuda Jaane - Today morning when I woke up I seen the promo of this song on television. Instantly I was hooked. It’s has a nice, soft, mellow tune until the chorus hits and we get Vishal Shekhar’s every so popular rock/metal beats. It’s a love song with KK and Shilpa Rao giving their vocals. KK really does well here. Lately he’s been up and down in my opinion, but with this song he totally redeems himself. Shilpa Rao who is usually used by SEL works well with Vishal Shekhar as well. Her voice is different from Sunidhi and Shreya that’s why she sounds so fresh. Anvita Dutt Guptan has given the lyrics…who is she??? Well whomever she is…she’s done a splendid job. Nice track to open the album with. Lovely arrangements by VS here.

Lucky Boy - Damn right Ranbir is a lucky boy…he gets to romance Bipasha, Minisha and Deepika in one damn movie. Oh well to the song now…this song must be picturized on Bipasha for sure…Sunidhi lends her voice to the album…it’s the typical Yashraj track…sord of on the lines of Lazy Lamhe, Chaalia or Sexy Lady…this is not my type of track to be honest…therefore I did not enjoy it at all…but I can definetely see the youngsters rocking their heads to this track. Oh yah Hard Kaur (who I hate) is somewhere in the song too…I couldn’t catch her part…I consider myself very lucky.

Aahista Aahista - When I seen the name beside the song…LUCKY ALI…I jumped up. Lucky Ali back in the game after such a long time…where has this man been…I adore his voice. This song instantly reminds me of Fanaa and Anjana Anjani from Yuva. It has a club/disco type of beat to the song with Ali’s amazing voice-over. Shreya does a fine job as well. I love the way Vishal Shekhar blends Ali and Shreya’s voice together in this track…the lyrics are decent…not a bad track at all.

Jogi Mahi - A Vishal Shekhar soundtrack cant be complete without Sukhwinder Singh…this song is picturized on Ranbir and Manisha…Shekhar starts it off on a good note singing some nice lines…then enters Sukhwinder Singh for only small moments…this song completely belongs to Shekhar…finally Shekhar hits the right key. Usually I don’t like his voice in many songs…this time around he’s good. Himani from Saregamapa lends her voice towards the end of the song…she does a really good job…very nice voice. This is a punjabi track that will take time to grow on a person…in my case I liked it right off the bat. It’s a song that pumps you up.

Small Town Girl - Another track which I think is picturized on Ranbir and Minisha. Wow Shankar singing for someone else…he stopped doing that. This song has a bigtime Pritty Women (Kal Ho Na Ho) hangover. Actually most of the tracks in this film sound more SEL and Rahmanish to me. This track has punjabi roots mixed in with rock n roll…the lyrics might be corny but this is on catchy song. I’m not usually fond of these kind of tracks but I enjoyed this one lol. I think the main reason behind why I liked it is Shankar. He rocks man. He gets right into the Jhoom Barabar Jhoom mood here.

Bachna Ae Haseeno - OHHHHHHHHHH SHIT…this is like one of my all time favourite tracks ever…I got scared that VS were tackling down this classic…but they have done an amazing job here yo…Sumit Kumar (who is he)…has done an amazing job keeping up with Kishoreda…Kishoreda’s parts are still in this track…but Sumit has his own lines to say as well…VS worked very carefully and hard on this track…you can totally tell…they didnt ruin a classic…Im happy…this is my favourite track of this album…WOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO…bachna ae haseeno VS has came out with this amazing track to woo you all.

Overall, not bad…not the best…not the worst…I’m always in the middle when it comes to soundtracks…there’s always ups and downs to an album…but I think this has Yashraj stamp all over it…and if you like albums from that camp you will love this as well. Small Town Girl, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Khuda Jaane and Jogi mahi are the tracks that will be playing in my car. Grab the album…I doubt that you will be dissapointed. It’s better than Vishal Shekhar’s De Taali and Bhoothnath thats for sure.
