Jimmy - My Review
June 6th, 2008

This might be my oddest review ever…I can sense it already. From the first day we all knew this film will be a disaster. Everyone knew it’s going to be a b-grade film that will be a washout at the box office. Everything was against this film. Firstly, the film was being made by a director who has failed miserably in the 90’s. I don’t even remember Raj N Sippy’s last hit. Secondly this film has been in the making for a long time, it’s looks out dated. Thirdly, there aren’t many big names associated with this film. I can go and on about the cons. The captain of the ship, Mr. Sippy, is still stuck in the 80’s/90’s phase. The film is masala entertainer that fails because for the veiwers today this is not what they define as great entertainment. Sippy fails miserably and takes down Mimoh with him. I don’t know how important it is for a newcomer to have a hit off the start. For example, Amisha Patel had a few big hits off the start but now she’s just forgettable. A recent example is Ranbir…who’s Saawariya failed at the box office but is getting offers left, right and center. This film is a turnoff for Mimoh…I hope that people don’t place this youngster into the B or C grade films and say go baccha go act. Even knowing that this film is going to turn out bad I still had hope, I was rooting and cheering for Mithunda’s son. So where do I start. Looks wise Mimoh needs to work really hard. The blond long hair just ain’t him…it looks terrible. He needs a hair-cut fast…a trim would be fine as well. Mimoh also needs to shed some pounds and I heard he has thanks to Sunil Shetty. In some portions it show’s how unexperienced Mimoh is in the film. But in other portions it shows how confident he is. There are scenes in which he excells. For example his scene with the heroine’s father in which the father tries to offer money to Mimoh. I think he controls his emotional scenes very well. He needs to work very hard on his comedic scenes…I think he was trying too hard to make the viewer laugh in the light scenes. In the intense, serious scenes he does well too. His body language, his voice texture and his facial expressions need to be worked on. With time and experience I think all this will change and he will come out victorious. If he works hard on everything he needs to work on I am 100% sure he will show improvement. Final verdict: I think he has potential. As for dancing…after a long time I seen a guy move like he does. Hrithik is good…he’s great…he’s a star…whatever…I think his moves are very repititive. Yes Hrithik is flexible, but I don’t even think he’s a better dance than Govinda. Mimoh brings a Lil Michael Jackson, a lil Govinda, a lil Mithun and rips the screen apart whenever he gets the opportunity to dance. The movie has way too many songs…the only ones that stand out are the ones where Mimoh dances in. Marhaba took 20 days to shoot…and it shows how much Mimoh worked on his dance steps to that song…he’s impressive. I seen clipse of Harman…and he’s totally trying to copy Hrithik’s style of dancing. I give propz to Mimoh, who is a big Hrithik fan but yet he’s not trying to imitate him at all when it comes to dancing. The action scenes are totally fromt he 90’s era…suprisingly there is a lot of blood hahahaha. The climax and pre climax action scenes are not well choreographed. The editing is very poor. Sometimes you wonder how a character gets from one site to another all of a sudden. From a jungle Mimoh gets to a manshion before your eyes blink. The twists and turns in the first half are ok. Yes at first you wonder who’s behind the murder mystery but as the movie moves on you can easily guess the killer. Rahul Dev does a decent job. Not much scope for him to act though. As for Shakti…he’s actually alrite hahahaha. Zulfi Sayed sucks. The way he handles his important scenes in the end is just totally foolish. He overracts. The heroine needs to work harder than Mimoh…she stood out in only one emotional scene…other than that she’s forgettable. The dialgues are just too phony here…especially in the climax. There are some odd scenes that stand out like a sore thumb…less said the better. I kind of feel bad for Mimoh that he got launched this way. If handled by a better director his performance could have been way better. Yes some say that he sounds gay…his voice is awful…but look where Saif got with his goofy voice. I think no one can completely change their voice around…so I guess we all have to juss get used to it just like we did for Saif. Overall, watch it only for Mimoh’s dance moves.

3/10
