Hi, everyone…Vishal Shekhar are back again…just a month ago they were around with the music of Tashan…I thought Tashan’s music was ok…I really liked the experimental track “Dance Maare” and the rocking “Dil Haara”. I totally ignored Bhoothnath…and I hated that “My Buddy” song. Vishal-Shekhar has always pleased me with their numbers…I can’t say that they have given a totally terrible or absolutely crappy album yet. This time they team up with E Niwas for De Taali…which may seem like a small budget film but after seeing the promos it seems like the makers put a lot of money into this film since they went out to shoot at places like New Zealand and Bangok.
De Taali – There are two versions of this song…the first version (everybody put you hands together) is the better of the two. Shaan and Sunidhi stand out…I just love Sunidhi’s voice…VS know how to use her voice…the lyrics are kind of goofy but the beats are off the hook here. This is a song you can definetely play in your car. The second version isn’t bad…but it’s not better than the first version. The lyrics in the second version are much more better since they use less angresi and more hindi…this time around Shaan gets to shine.
Aaj Main Boond Hoon – Hmmm is this really Shreya singing…She gets naughty hahahaha…there is something about her voice that sounds different here…honestly I got really bored of her voice but this is refreshing…it’s something different from her. The song has a nice background beat, but this isn’t a song someone will listen to over and over again…it’s not a song people will sing along too. As for Shekhar singing…hmm…I dunno if I heard him before…but I didn’t like him in this song.
Hone Lagi – Another sweet, soft, mellow song with a simple background score. Vishal Shekhar lets Anouksha take over with her marvelleous voice. Anouksha has a very dusky, strong voice which really suits the song. One thing I don’t understand is why does Shekhar come in between these songs and sings a few lines then dissapears hahahahahaha….It’s not necessary…not needed…Anouksha steals it.
Maari Teethri – What the hell does that mean…”Maari Teethri”…oh well whatever. The song starts off as a club type of song with some rajhastani beats going on. And then Vishal comes into the song with a voice over…talking about some butterfly…not bad…I kinda liked his voice over part hahahahaha. For a second you kind of feel that this song is crossover between Dil Haara and Tashan Mein. Raja Hassan who came in second place in Saregamapa Challenge last year sang this song. He does a splendid job…his voice has range…He’s sounds great when his voice reaches high notes. One thing he has to work on his clarity when it comes to the words he’s singing. Overall, this song is not bad…you can shake your head to this tune.
Tooti Phooti – I’m not feeling this song…this is a track I would probably skip. It has amazing singers trying to save the track…but I didn’t like it. The part where the voice over goes “Shes Gone” is damn annoying. This is the weakest track in the soundtrack.
Hmmm…I didn’t even know that VS was going to give music for this film…actually forget that I didn’t even know that this film existed…I never heard of it before until I seen the promo. Well, this isn’t a terrible album…it has a few good numbers…the title track can become a chart buster but I think VS have to try harder. They set the bar to high with their earlier albums so I expect much greater from them. I think they gave music in Bachna Ae Haseeno…so Im expecting a lot from them when it comes to that album. This album is not too bad but not too good either…somewhere in the middle…do give it a listen whenever your free.

Lol..Sheeru, I’m not sayng it’s “great”..but theres a lot more than meets the eye with TASHAN! Yes it was horribly wrong in parts, but Acharya’s vision, and underlying symbolism can’t just be dismissed IMO….
The movie also features one of the massiest performances i’ve seen in recent actors from any actor, period…Bachchan Panday!
BTW the weakest link here was Anil..lol…Sorry Sheeru but man he hammed more than SRK has in his entire LIFE!!!!! A terrible performance…I preferred him in RACE to this!

Though I would say ANil features in one of my favorite scenes in the whole movie…the flashback scene with him on the bike..PRICELESS!! Evoked so many memories of yesteryear masala…..TASHAN as a WHOLE fails….but there are individual sequences that have been so impeccably and masterfully executed that it’s hard to deny them…..and in a weird sense “made” the movie work for me. IN essence, TASHAN works more than RGV KI AAG does though both tried to do similar things in some ways…
Anyways..more in my full review!

I look forward to your review Akshay. I do agree that Anil was atrocious in the film.

Jason Todd on DANCE MAARE via MSN chat:
“but dil dance maare was just so entertaining, you really do just watch it with this big ass grin on your face”
Couldn’t say it better for DANCE MAARE myself…..it’s just such a strangely addictive song…and that in many ways sums up my liking for TASHAN…”strangely addictive”!!!!
