Big B and media trapped in jaded, dull matrimony
The media in India ought to impose a pretty long moratorium on Amitabh Bachchan interviews.
The media bakes the same old banalities and garnishes them as profound questions. And Bachchan, with no other option left, responds in a mockingly serious tone. Like a jaded couple trapped in a dull matrimony both the media and Bachchan have run out of things to say. Can you blame either? They have been tangoing for the past 30 years. There are no new moves left. They can only grunt at each other.

Even the readers/viewers grunt in boredom. Big B’s blog is some entertainment though.
Comment by Ravi on 16 May 2008:
Nice piece that Bachchan has written in his Day 28(i) blog on his relationship with SRK.
Maybe some of the SRK fans would like to go ahead and read that.
Comment by ILG on 16 May 2008:
Re:SRK fans would like to go ahead and read that.
Hmmm. Some body has to read it to them and may be translate into Hindi.
Comment by satyam on 16 May 2008:
good one here..
Comment by ILG on 16 May 2008:
It is actually pretty good except for the last two sentences which do not make sense.

Well..ILG, I am a srk fan and very much lettered and intellective enough to fathom what Mr Bachchan writes on his blog. You seem to be in a desperate mood to generalize on the intellectual bankruptcy of the srk’s fans, let me tell you someone does not become intellectually bankrupt or capacious by just being a fan of certain star, lot of other things go into it.I have seen many Bachchan fans and know how intellectually inferior they are, but that does not make me to universalize that those who like Bachchan are very much the same, the class and gentility of guys like Satyam, Qalandar,Nynavi and Abzee will definitely refute such kinda generalization at the first place.
Comment by Qalandar on 16 May 2008:
Very well said Som. Agree completely.
Comment by Ravi on 16 May 2008:
Q bhai someone was mentioning that the Bachchan concert in NY would be around Aug 15th, will be there for that and will be planning to meet all our wonderful NG folks at that time, if they can spare some time.
Comment by ILG on 16 May 2008:
Re: Well..ILG, I am a srk fan
My sympathies. Nobody is perfect.
Comment by Ravi on 16 May 2008:
ILG bhai, please don’t rag on Som dear, he is a cutie pie.
Comment by Qalandar on 16 May 2008:
Ravibhai: will make sure I am in town for that. Would love to meet you and bhabi as well (I make great desi chai :-)…
Comment by Ravi on 16 May 2008:
Whoever said anything about Babhi coming? When you are visiting the city that never sleeps, it is better of to come as a bachelor.
By the way Q bhai, Babhi ko milna hai to Tampa aana padega.
So, you are going to fill me up with Chai? I would prefer something more brazen bro, I will be taking in the Chai too though.

I must say Som’s english in last one week has risen some levels. It is going TheSkeptic way espcially reading this
Q: Very rational but could be technical and dry.
Jay: Logical and easy to understand.
ILG: It is vibrant and full of sarcasm. I love the use of some of the words. “Intellectual pusillanimity”
TheSkeptic: I need dictionary.com open all the time.
Satyam: He writes on all the level. As I have commented previously he writes faster than I think.
Comment by Qalandar on 16 May 2008:
No doubt Ravibhai! Aap aaiye to sahee, phir dekhiye hum kya kya pilaate hain…
Comment by ILG on 16 May 2008:
Ravi,
Good. Hopefully can meet.
Am out Aug 8 thru 15 tho.
RKS,
Like your characterisation of NG writers or shall I say NG-SB.
Skeptic, Satyam and Q are a class apart.
Would deny that Q is technical or dry.I find his writing very interesting. Only charge I would level
is that the compulsion to be politically correct at all times takes away some efficacy now and then.

RKS - I think Som is preparing for MBA, to ho sakta hai usne bhi rat vidya ka sahara le kar Barron’s guide aur Peter Funks Whats The Good Word, ghol kar pee lee ho, like …..
Comment by ILG on 16 May 2008:
Som is good but abhi bachcha hai. Needs quite a bit to reach Skeptic’s level of writing which is practically flawless. All of us casual writers make too many spelling and grammatical errors to really be at that level. But, chalta hai.
Comment by rks on 16 May 2008:
Tango: It is one thing to “muggafy”; it is difficult to use them properly if you have not read enough text.
ILG: You said things I was dithering to write
and probably that is the differenece between you two.

Tango, Lol!! my language depends on my mood.I have been in good frame of mind since last week or so.
Comment by Tango on 16 May 2008:
Great, before I leave hope that you get into good management institute soon.
Yaar andhi ne pareshan kar diya hai hai. Ek to poor electricity supply phir..
Comment by ILG on 16 May 2008:
Sombabu,
Apna mood banaye rakho. Kuchh bigada hai to sorry. My potshots at SRK fans are in jest only. Well, most of the time. And awlays say that my views of them have a couple of exceptions, usually keeping you and Henry in mind.

“Re: Well..ILG, I am a srk fan

Don’t be ILG!! I have absolutely no inhibition of being called as a SRK fan.I know what I am capable of, don’t really entail the approbation of others.

agree with you there!! The Skeptic’s command over language is Impeccably immaculate. a class apart!!
Comment by Qalandar on 16 May 2008:
NG features a bunch of terrific writers: I would also “nominate” goodfella, abzee, and sandy. [Hard to gauge when it comes to people who don't post that often or only post brief comments, as opposed to writing full-fledged pieces.]
Comment by Qalandar on 16 May 2008:
When I see evidence of TheSkeptic’s unflappability in the shoutbox, I sometimes feel even his/her conception might have been immaculate.
Comment by jayshah on 16 May 2008:
My nominations:
Satyam/Qalander/Goodfella - Prolific writers
Sandy/Henry/Abzee - concise. Sandy has a knack of saying something in a paragraph that might take Satyam an essay to spit out
rockstar - hey, this dude is infectious and his avatar suits his style. And getting through that sentence that never ends, there is a point and a good one at that.
ILG - wit, a gift, but sometimes mis-used!
Tango/NYKavi - excellent Hindi style, I don’t know Hindi but can read there’s and understand it.
Comment by Qalandar on 16 May 2008:
Among those who don’t post that often or don’t post full-fledged pieces, I like the styles of Jesse, Henry, chipguy, vikschshkhr, Tuenkens, Aditya. Beld o Beld is a good writer, but often chooses to camouflage his talent beneath flame wars.
Comment by satyam on 16 May 2008:
“As I have commented previously he writes faster than I think”
Rks, that’s because I write without thinking!
Comment by satyam on 16 May 2008:
“ILG - wit, a gift, but sometimes mis-used!”
Wit always seem misused for those at the receiving end!
Comment by rks on 16 May 2008:
Satyam: You still have to master the visual mode and code mode. I deleted the post as it was messing the front page.
When you copy (text and image at same time) and paste in visual mode, it creates problem. Indiatimes, glamsham,MM are most likely create problem. It is better to copy first in code mode . Only text is pasted even if you have copied both text and image. After pasting the text, toggle to visual mode and copy the images one by one and put them at appropriate place.
ps: HT copy paste works fine without any problem in visual mode.

”
Thanks for the praise Q, but honestly I just don’t know if I have full-fledged pieces in me. For one I don’t think I have the time, and secondly I just don’t know what to write about!
Comment by satyam on 16 May 2008:
Rks: I don’t think I will ever master it. Thanks for deleting that post. I will try once again at a later time with something else. What I did this time around was that I did the text and the images separately but all in visual mode. I will try it the other way next time. The only issue here is that I don’t see the advantage if I have to do everything in code, then toggle to visual mode, and then again reinsert the picture here.. am I missing something?
On another note were you able to figure out the embed issue? Now this is something I was always able to do before. Then the site went down and it was over!
