KHAN IS AUTISTIC!!
Shah Rukh Khan, the Badshah of bollywood, is all set to play a challenging character of an autistic person in Karan Johar’s upcoming ambitious film ‘My Name Is Khan.’
The role is entirely different from the run of the mill characters that Shah Rukh Khan has played till now. Shah Rukh hopes to silence the critics who slam him for doing only song and dance laden masala bollywood flicks and running away from meaningful cinema of substance.
In the film, Shah Rukh will have to enact the character of a person with grave developmental disorder characterized by impaired communication, excessive rigidity and emotional detachment. All these symptoms of autism begin since the childhood of Shah Rukh in the film, and continue as he grows up to become a man.
Sources say that Shah Rukh Khan’s character in Karan Johar’s ‘My Name Is Khan’ is largely modeled on the lines of Dustin Hoffman’s character in ‘Rain Man.’ Rain Man was made by Barry Levinson in 1988 and story revolved around the autistic character of Hoffman, who discovered to his dismay that his father had left the entire property in the name of his brother.
Initially, Karan Johar had planned to shoot the entire film in New York beginning this summer, but later postponed it to some later date as Aditya Chopra wanted Shah Rukh Khan’s dates for his ambitious project ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.’ Aditya’s film is a typical Yashraj film where King Khan has been paired opposite newcomer Anushka Sharma, who is just nineteen years old.
The grapevine is abuzz that ‘My Name Is Khan’ is an answer on the part of King Khan to Aamir Khan’s ‘Taare Zameen Par’ and Big B’s ‘Black’. Both Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan had been widely appreciated for their acting prowess and courage to do such movies which could be called serious cinema in contrast to Shah Rukh Khan’s run of the mill stuff.
Though Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Swades’ and ‘Chak De! India’ were good movies but they were far behind Aamir Khan’s directorial venture ‘Taare Zameen Par’ and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Black’ in which Amitabh had given a stellar performance. Through this Karan Johar film, Shah Rukh Khan is taking up the cudgels and trying to prove that he is not always repetitive as accused by critics.
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan has dropped a bombshell by commenting that Shah Rukh was licking his legs, though he later clarified that Shah Rukh was the name of his dog. But the buzz doing the rounds in the industry is that the comment was not in good taste and will almost certainly create a rift between Aamir and Shah Rukh Khan.
Hmm…..hmm…. while King Khan is all set to prove a point with ‘My Name Is Khan’…. Aamir seems to be hell bent on rubbing salt to injury…..this time it is licking…..and earlier it was ‘SRK is number 2’ controversy, no??

Am I the only one who is really looking forward to this? This is the kind of performance that could seriously add a few notches on SRK’s belt..I think SRK has the talent to pull off this kind of performance, though my doubt here is whether Johar is the right director??? If it was Gowariker or even Shimit…
