Amitabh has always promoted Abhishek whenever possible. Will Mithun do the same with Mimoh? “Let Amitabh do that if he wants. If Mimoh is really good, he will succeed on his own.

Mithun invited everyone in B-Town for the premiere of his son’s film except the Bachchans
Last night, at the premiere of Mithun Chakroborty’s son Mimoh’s debut film Jimmy, at Cinemax in Andheri, the who’s who of B-town was present. Barring the Bachchans. Mithun personally called up everyone to come and bless beta Mimoh on his big day.
So why was the Bachchan parivaar not invited? Because the Chakrbortys were not invited to the AbhiAsh wedding? Says a source, “Amitabh and Mithun have worked together in Agneepath and Ganga Jamuna Saraswati, so they are no strangers.
Mithun wasn’t happy with the way his role had shaped out in Agneepath and Amitabh went on to get the National Award for the film. And things between them soured forever.” But it goes way beyond just professional rivalry.
When Mani Ratnam’s Guru released, Mithun felt his role would suffer, but nothing of the sort happened. Mithun would never speak out openly against Amitabh and fear incurring his wrath especially now that he has started blogging. Mithun feels it better to avoid Amitabh.
When asked if he had invited Bachchan to Jimmy’s premiere, Mithun says abruptly, “No.” When asked why, he shrugs, “Because I don’t know the Bachchans that well and we can’t invite everyone. There will be too many people then.” Argue that they have been colleagues and contemporaries and the actor snaps, “Please don’t ask me anything. I don’t wish to discuss the subject. It’s best left alone.”
Starry night
Mithun invited many stars and his old producer and director friends for the premiere, Mithun admits, “Yes I had invited Shah Rukh, Govinda, Salman, Sunil (Shetty), Sanjay (Dutt). Shah Rukh came and met me and said, ‘Dada, I would have come but the Kolkata Knight Riders match is on the same day and I have to be there.” Salman’s shooting in Australia but Sanju, Govinda and Sunil Shetty promised to come.”
Special people
A special invite for the premiere has gone to Salim Khan (Salman’s father) and his family. Mithun says, “Yes I am like Salman’s elder brother. Salimbhai has done so much for me when I was struggling actor. He has been a tremendous source of encouragement and support to me.
Salimbhai had first met me in a tailoring shop when I was just a graduate from the Pune Film Institute and asked me to join films. Since that day, he had recommended me everywhere to all his colleagues. Salman, Sohail, Arbaaz and Alvira have grown up in front of me. The Khans are like family.”
He’s on his own
Amitabh has always promoted Abhishek whenever possible (especially with reference to Guru) as a proud father. Will Mithun do the same with Mimoh? “Let Amitabh do that if he wants. If Mimoh is really good, he will succeed on his own.
If he’s bad he has to learn and correct it. I feel Mimoh is 25 times a better dancer than I am. Mimoh has acted well and got distinction in dancing, fighting and action. He’s star material but he has to improve his acting. I don’t want to praise him too much or he’ll get a swollen head.
I’ve told Mimoh that he has to fight his own battles and be ready for anything because this is how life is. I was never present on the sets. The only time I came was during the song Marhaba which Nadeem, the choreographer and I helped Mimoh with the steps.”

This story sounds extremely dubious to me. Bachchan is shooting in Nasik, Abhishek’s shooting in Miami! So it seems like classic Midday stuff.
But leaving the story aside we are treated to another one of your ‘highlights’ Shetty where a quote in the article becomes the title of the piece. Obviously you’re free to do whatever you like but you once had something useful to say on this forum. Now you’re either not around and when you are it’s just this sort of frankly extremely juvenile stuff.
I’m not sure if this is the Achilles influence on you (whether he’s your friend or relative I can’t tell) but it’s made you a little obsessive in this sense.
I’m not saying this because it’s about Abhishek. With any other star it would be the same thing. Except that no one else does this. I certainly remember an older Shetty with whom I (and others) used to have ‘discussions’. Now it’s just this sort of stuff where a monkey’s picture is put up and he’s called Abhishek or you and Achilles show up in tandem and indulge in literally grade 1 level of humor about Abhishek and so forth.
Just not sure what the point is? Why not actually put up criticism on Abhishek in a serious way? In the past you sometimes did it with Vikram as well but then you let it go. At other points you’ve stated you like both Vikram and Abhishek. You were certainly never a Hrithik fan for example but suddenly started putting up complimentary stuff on him. Not sure what the deal is here except that it’s not very interesting.
Can’t speak for others here but I certainly miss the old Shetty.

satyam: I’m in full agreement with your entire statement mate. That article is Mid-day rubbish baiting at its best. It’s muck. And the posting of this article with misleading title meant as a slight against Abhishek is hypocritically out of order per usual.

Promoted…how did AB promote Abhishek?
Comment by akshay shah on 9 May 2008:
I find this piece rather hard to believe given Mithun/AB hav always shared a close rapport!
Comment by Tango on 9 May 2008:
Exactly Akashayshah. Mithun is one of the most non-controversial guys and keeps to himself. I doubt he said so.
Comment by Simply Som on 9 May 2008:
Don’t buy this!!
BTW if Mithun has indeed said something like this, then be ready to get a strong response from Bachchan on his blog.

Wonder whats unreal or dubious about this post?
I am happy that there are people who stand up against the old scoundrel who has finally decided to express his real self through a blog. Thankfully he calls Amitabh as Amitabh without extra embellishments that make him appear Big.

ya corect just like an old moron congressi businessman arrogant loser who keep on making arrogant remark against allmost everyone, ya it took 5 year for abhishek to reach yashraj , but a ranbir just after a flop with slb (with film having a bigger name salman), safely gets there
Comment by rockstar on 9 May 2008:

“Its totally unrelated to the topic and my observation.”
ya and calling someone old scoundrel is related to topic and it adds to astute observation
Comment by nithi_s on 9 May 2008:
Rockstar,
I did not call you an old scoundrel. Don’t get so worked up. Just wanted to test the fanatism index in Bachchan fans. Its still at this peak!

Comment by nithi_s on 9 May 2008:

Jimmy came and went. Poor Mimoh. His work has spoken for him!
Comment by ILG on 10 May 2008:
Old scoundrel ?
Youthful exuberance, perhaps?
Comment by akshay shah on 10 May 2008:
Bachchan fighting back via his blog has indeed bought out the worst in people….he won’t take shit lying down thats for sure:-)
As for Mithunda…..I love and admire the guy, and I have reasons to believe this is all just a rumour..wait for Mithun to clarify this himself in coming days:-)
Rockstar: good call on Abhi…those who whinge and cry about starkids often forget…from Sanjay Dutt, Salman KHan to Ranbir..they’re all starkids in ONLY in the industry becauyse of their connections…those who have talent will stay around..others will end up like Puru Raj Kumar and Bobby Deol!
Comment by beld o beld on 10 May 2008:
Rock, nithi - chill guys. And here I was thinking that both of you were referring to ilg.
Comment by Qalandar on 10 May 2008:
Rockstar: Let’s also not forget the ultimate “starkids” — people like Rahul Gandhi, Mukesh Ambani, Anil Ambani, the Wadias, the Tatas, and the scions of almost every political and business family (and now, Mithun’s family too!) — jo poore desh ko chalaa rahe hain.
Comment by Qalandar on 10 May 2008:
Satyam: shetty was one of the very few people with whom one could have had discussions about 1980s films that most people don’t remember anymore. I had a number of discussions with him that were very useful/educational from my perspective, and thus I too miss the old shetty.
Comment by satyam on 10 May 2008:
Agreed Qalandar..
