zeenews: Destination Bollywood for Sony, inks Rs 250 cr deal with PNC
Mumbai, May 07: In one of the biggest Bollywood’s investment deals ever, Hollywood major Sony Pictures has penned down an agreement with Mumbai based productions house Pritish Nandy Communications (PNC) to co-produce three movies.
According to the deal Sony would be pumping in a sum of Rs 250 crores for producing three big scale Bollywood movies. This would be Sony’s second foray into Bollywood film production as its first production, Saawariya, did not fare well at the Box Office.
However this time round Sony Pictures want to get everything right and to ensure that Sony Pictures chairman Michael Lynton will be in India to personally oversee the production.
Though both companies have refused to comment, Sony Pictures India CEO Uday Singh revealed that the details of the deal would be made public on May 13.
With the deal going through, a new benchmark will be set for big budget movies in the country. Of the three movies that are to be made the first one will be a comedy called Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram with a budget of Rs 70 crores and as per the movie will be extensively shot in Las Vegas.
