Theatrical Trailer of AAMIR

AAMIR, dirtected by Anurag Kashyap’s protege Rajkumar Gupta, is one of the smaller but more interesting films to arrive on our screens this year. Starring Rajeev Khandelwal in the titular role, this UTV produced film, is already being talked about in industry circles for its look. Shot in the Muslim ‘ghettos’ of Mumbai, AAMIR takes the viewer from Crawford Market to Bhendi Bazaar and from Dharavi to Behrampada.

Here’s a synopsis, courtesy indiafm-

Aamir, the name literally means leader and our protagonist becomes a follower not because of faith, not out of zeal, but out of ‘fear’.

Geographically Aamir’s maze is set in the Muslim dominated, but poor, areas of Bombay. In its lanes and by lanes, cheap restaurants and lodges, amongst nameless pimps and whores, run-down buildings and over-crowded markets, filth and squalor, Aamir is supposed to understand the life he has lived, the ‘choices’ he has made, his dreams, his love and his immediate fears. T

hrough the course of one day lost in the streets of Mumbai, the question remains that do you choose your destiny, or does destiny choose you, and whether Aamir chooses to be a follower or become a leader.

And the wonderful theatrical trailer-

  2. Nice!

  3. Didn’t know about this one. Thanks!

  4. abzee: done! This looks to be very interesting…yet another quality “smaller” film from UTV’s stables…

  5. is it just me or does this remind anyone of the depp starrer nick of time or something like that. just the phone part and w/ the family as hostage and i guess he has to do something for the bad guys in a certain period of time…but it still looks interesting. the locations look good too.

speaking of locations, i think there was a discussion about the real mumbai in films…weren’t bluffmaster, black friday, and gafla all shot on location? or were those either on set or outside of mumbai?

  6. Black Friday and Bluffmaster were extensively shot in Mumbai. I believe Gafla was too. The pits here was Shootout at Lokhandwala, which was apparently not shot in the city.

  7. q forget about where shootout was shot…it was the pits that lakhia and gupta were allowed to ruin an interesting premise.

that reminds me what’s sanjay gupta up to these days? i guess he maybe catching up on some movies and relaxing b4 he lets his creativity flow.
