“All the songs in the album are in accord with the mood and the flavour of the movie and take a while to grow on the listeners. Music critics rate V-S along with Pritam and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, but here they can be compared to their ideal, A.R. Rahman, as they have done a truly honest job here. That’s compliment enough for the talented duo. Definitely, this album is a sure shot winner. Even if it has taken quite a long time to be launched (as the movie releases on 25 April), Tashan is all set to rock the charts for quite sometime. A must buy for those who like their music to be off the beaten/predictable track!”
I will say that the songs of Tashan are good on first hear, grows on you from second hearing…
but stagnates afterwards.
I will prefer Vishaal Shekhar over AR Rehmaan off late.
I found their composition in JA OK by the current standard. that he will take an award is a different matter.
But for me JA kind of songs are plain boring.
However, I really liked your insight on the music review….
usually as a listener, one does not look into all these aspects and after reading your review, i am now listening to Tashan’s music again and must say that could not but agree with what you have written.

Yup, that’s a valid point i.e. about music releasing too near the film’s release. It kinds of worries me though since a soundtrack like ‘Tashan’ needs much greater time to settle down. And to think about it, a song per se is not yet out on telly!

But IMO, this year Race songs are very good as well…may be as good as Tashan’s if not more.

The songs online were a disappointed but were an eye opener on the actual CD on a good music system, spl in the context of the movie.

You are right here Tango Bhai…
Tashan kind of track does require original CD hearing and a decent music system.
