    The sari is the sexiest dress in the world, potentially sensual, classy, or just plain raunchy.

    beld: nothing wrong with Kaif, although she is a bit “bland” for my taste; I prefer the greater “spice” of Bipasha Basu, or Saran (who strikes a great balance between Basu and Kaif, and simultaneously I think has great command over traditional Indian registers of sensuality as well — just check out the Vaaji Vaaji song from Sivaji, but of course there is much else one could point to)…

    I think Aamir has finally woken up to the fact that he needs to play to the gallery and indulge the media. The ‘SRK is No 2′ and this whole deal about making a grand entry with his new look to awaiting flashbulbs is certainly a new, changed Aamir we’re seeing. And boy, does he look hot!

    I see two reasons for this change of attitude towards the media

    1. He’s been on the top for ages now but somehow his reluctance to play up to the media has prevented him from getting his due. He’s seeing how SRK keeps reaping benefits inspite of achieving just about as much commercial success as Aamir and not even half the critical acclaim. He’s clearly taking matters into hand and the result is there for all to see. The media is clearly eating out of his hands.

    2. Also, I feel Aamir has softened his stand towards the media in general, seeing how TZP was hailed by every channel. He got top honours at both Filmfare and Screen Awards and though he shuns them, I’m tempted to believe that he’s in a more forgiving mood than ever. He actually spoke to Cine Blitz last month!

    I think no matter what one things it’s quite clear that Race has pretty much taken the wind out of Tashan’s sails. I mean, the whole USP about Tashan was supposed to be its glam quotient fast-paced action and sleekness. But Race seems to have all that and more! Not to add, some really rockin’ music.

    And let’s not forget that two stars from Race are repeated in the Yash Raj film (Saif and Anil). Also, a skinny Kareena - even when she’s flaunting a bikini- is really no match to the combined heat that Sameera, Katrina and Bips are generating.
    And thiis I say inspite of being a huge fan of Bebo!

    Sandy: I don’t agree on Race stealing Tashan’s thunder. First of all, Tashan’s promotion has barely started and then, from the looks of it, Tashan looks very rustic in appeal. And last but not least from any angle, Akshay Kumar.

    I do believe guys Race is all hype and no substance. The women will help retain the interest, but they are shown as diabolical (sorry for letting the cat out of the bag), ala in a typical Abbas Mastan style that it may not gel well with the sensibilities of the Indian audience. One cannot forget the fate of Fida for the same reason, despite Fida being a very well made film. This is very unlike the D2 deal where both Ash and Bips were positive and the audience were drooling all over them because of the skimpy bikinis and of course the sensational lip lock between Hritik and Ash.

    However I do agree that unless YR do something about the promos of Tashan, this film will strike more as a Bebo Saif deal rather than an Akshay Kumar flick. I don’t know why YR are not concentrating on the apparent real crowd puller (seeing his track record) that is Akshay. Unless they have been deceptively led to beleive that Bebo and Saif are going to strike the iron with the audience. Tch Tch.

    Guys, just saw Race — a very average effort here from Abbas-Mustan. Saif and Anil are cool but that’s about it. Akshaye Khanna’s role is very similar to the one he played in Humraaz, so there isn’t much novetly here.
    Among the women, the biggest disappointment for me was Katrina Kaif (sorry Jay!) because she was being promoted so extensively before the release. Her performance just doesn’t register. I have to agree that besides looking cute, she doesn’t have much to offer. Her performance itself is absolutely bland. I much preferred Bips and Sameera.
