Arun: what’s the word in India, is Aaj Tak considered better than NDTV’s Hindi channel? [I ask because I am close to succumbing and getting dish service, and one of the two options on offer includes Aaj Tak, and the other includes NDTV]. I like NDTV Hindi and have watched that a lot, but for some reason haven’t seen much of Aaj Tak at all…
Qalandar: Aaj Tak has lost ground, quality has gone down considerably. it is showing everything other than newz thesedays.NDTV hindi IMO is definitely better than Aaj Tak.
Q: Aaj Tak is the most popular hindi channel but when it comes to quality, NDTV India is the only one. It has some really good newsreaders/reporters like Vinod Dua. The list of crappy news channels is headed by India TV.
agree with you Som to some extent….
In English, NDTV, CNN IBN and Headlines today are good in descending order.
In Hindi, NDTV India is way ahead of Star News, Zee News, Aaj Tak and India TV…again in descending order.
I love “Baat Pate Ki” whenever it comes on NDTV India.
Then you have Humlog…
with anchors like Pankaj Pachaury, Vinod Dua, etc, NDTV India is my absolute delight in news, views and analysis. I will go even a step further to say that NDTV India, the Hindi News channel is far better than even its English counterpart- NDTV
Arun, I am jealous of Vinod Dua just for that…
what a wonderful way to show the real taste of India.
The other people i get jealous of, are the travel shows where anchors (beauties like Deepti Bhatnagar, etc) get the chance to see the world on job and moreover get paid for that…sigh!!!!
“I will go even a step further to say that NDTV India, the Hindi News channel is far better than even its English counterpart- NDTV”
Nitesh , i disagree.Ndtv 24/7 is definitely better than its hindi counterpart, probably the best English newz channel IMO. shows like “The Big Fight”, “We the people” are absolute delight to watch with anchors like Vikram Chandra and Barkha Dutt managing them really well.there is also one “Documentary 24×7′ ” which is a class apart. again as you rightly said even its biz channel NDTV Profit is damn good.

In Biz News, CNBC and NDTV Profits are again an absolute delight.
However i do not like much of Udayan Mukherjee….he has started becoming predictable.
I like the biz reports on NDTV Profit.

Nitesh: Do you watch Vinod Dua’s ‘Zaayka India Ka’? I love that show.
Comment by Arun on 10 February 2008:
While we are at it, NDTV’s two new channels - Good Time and Imagine are also very good. Imagine has some fot refreshingly different weeklies

Big Fight has taken a beating after Rajdeep’s exit but WTP is definitely one of the best shows.
Rajdeep, Barkha and Vinod were awarded the Padma Shri this year. Very well deserved, I must say!
