Sid…apart from Ashu, Hrithik and Aish, I am not getting much positive vibes…
The continuous delay of the project has not helped either.
I am more than happy to change my views but the more i see its new promos, the more i feel that it is a slow film with slow songs. Not that they are not good….they may flow with the story which will then enhance the film’s prospects.
however, standalone songs promos are leaving a feel of “seen before on TV” syndrome.
I do not think anyone on NG shares my view…so i will wait till i find a partner.
Ofcourse, i will be giving the most optimistic prediction pre-release. (I have failed only with RGV ki Aag; was correct on TZP, Bhool Bhulaiya, Heyy Babyy, Partner, Welcome, Halla Bol, Jab we met, etc)
Pls do not think that i am anti-JA.
I think we are not ready to face bad new all the time. same thing happened to analysts predicting the share market crash. Now their articles are referred.
I ofcourse will keep changing my views on JA as i get more and more info.
I must admit that my assumption till now is based on the song promos, look and feel.
The first promo was good but since then curve has been concave.
As I said earlier, i am eagerly waiting for the dialog promos.
JA needs to open big. I don’t see CDI or TZP kind of trending. Historicals start on negative side of public perception. So it needs to be really good. The promos have been grand, lets wait for 15th Feb for content.
ps: I found the visuals good but song itself is not catchy.
Nitesh: “drove me to sleep…Yawn” “apart from Ashu, Hrithik and Ash I’m not getting postive vibes…”
Gowariker isn’t enough for you. How many good directors do we see in Bollywood? I don’t think many so when one is releasing a film, I think that’s reason enough to anticipate his work.
Fari,
Gowarikar is a very good director…no second thoughts on it.
But here we are talking about a high profile project with huge cost.
My opinion is based on BO prospects and not on the quality of the film.(I always count money before looking at the quality)
As far as work is concerned, i have no doubt that it will be great but that unfortunately is not enough for the industry.
slow films with slow songs are a big no-no and i hope that this slow song does not slows down the narration of the film. This can be disastrous for a movie that runs for 3 hrs and 20 mts.
Slow films with slow songs do not a blockbuster make. But needto see a little more before making any predictions. There is a lot of scope for drama and battlescenes and dare I say, melodrama here.
I liked MP a lot but the movie itself had a lack of battle scenes so in that sense already from previews JA has this. In fact MP wasn’t really a ‘wow’ type historical, whereas the setting for JA looks far bigger, more characters and looks far more grandeur. All this can only help its boxoffice cause. The ‘wow’ factor looks big for JA, especially with these large battle scenes. I can’t see how Gowariker can make this into a snoozefest…there is to much riding on it for him to make elementary errors…in any case I cannot see anything but Gowariker pulling off a hatrick of triumphant movies here (not box office wise, but critically well recieved at the bare minimum)
I guess that’s where we differ, Nitesh. BO is not my first thought. My eyes glaze over when I read most of the BO discussions here.;)
I know how important it is but as a viewer, it’s not my first thought.
Obviously, I want good films to do well because I want more good films to be made. But I’m not a producer so why should it matter so much to me.
In all honestly, I’d take a BO failure like Swades(one of my favorites) over a BO success like OSO or Heyy Babyy. The latter films bored me like few have so to see a film like JA labeled as “boring” before we’ve seen it doesn’t sit well with me.
liked the promo - very low key though. For those who think Khwaja Mere Khwaja is a boring track - wow, I find it to be a revalation…and easily the best track of JA.
Jodhaa-Akbar will have a great opening I feel, but I don’t think it will maintain momentum like a CDI or TZP. It should be interesting considering that many historic films of this nature tend to begin very slow. The pairing of Hrithik and Ash will do wonders for the initial response.
The final date is FEB 15th, straight from the horse’s mouth.
