Will Jodha Akbar Be A Winner?

Q.Could you please tell me what releases Kareena Kapoor will have this year.

A.The certainties are Tashan in April and Golmaal Returns in July. Kambakht Ishq is expected on Diwali and Mr And Mrs Khanna in December but these two are a long way off so may not make it on the expected dates.

Q.How do you think Sunday will open next week?

A.Difficult to say but definitely better than Ajay’s last film Halla Bol.

Q.If Aaja Nachle has grossed around 17 crore net in India and 8.5 crore overseas, why is it labelled a flop when the cost of the movie is only 18 crores and Yashraj has distributed it themselves ? What is the extent of the loss if there is any? Isnt the performance good considering it has only Madhuri as the star power and for an ex number one heroine to still command a 33 crore worldwide gross?

A.16 crore nett in India would give YRF a share of 8 crore while the overseas 8.50 crore would them give share of 4.50 crore. Thats 12.50 crore from the theatres for an 18 crore film. If we add all the other rights like music and satellite then it is possible that Aaja Nachle will recover about 16-17 crore so losses for YRF are pretty small but more importantly the returns from theatres in India were well below expectations so thats why it is a flop.

Q.Jodha Akbar is coming about 3 months late now, do you see it being a all round winner like Om Shanti Om and Welcome or limited to big cities like Taare Zameen Par. Can it open bumper?

A.The opening should be bumper. Its hard to tell about how big of a success it will be as that depends on merits of the film. If the content is accepted then it has good chances of being a winner all over as it will have a big release all over India so therefore will be showing at small centres from day one. Taare Zameen par was aimed at multiplexes of big cities and was never going to work in the smaller centres and the makers knew this so gave it a limited release in most circuits and did not even bother to release it in Bihar. Jodha Akbar can be compared with Om Shanti Om and Welcome but not Taare Zameen Par.

No when this will happen u will find this interesting…coz saji khan is the kind of person who is not diplomatic at all…if this happens..he will definitely say say something here and there…and will lead to some kind of war of words…like recently between farah(again sajid ka khoon) and slb…this will make the competion more interesting…but i will be more happy if sajid khan will loose…

aamir is a diff cup of tea from slb. Farah sajid or even srk cant bully him. He has been in trickiest situations possible and come out a winner. Just pot shots frm these guys wouldnt bother him. I really dont think Aamir will enter into any war of words with Sajid or even Farah. SRK possible but then that would be a war and people tend to underestimate Aamir’s fan following.
