The album is now really growing on me. I still stand by my above comments but Jashne Baharan is the one I've now started liking and probably like this more than Khwaja. With Rahman however one likes the album initially it takes time to absorb the mood and flavor of the album. In this sense they really should have released the soundtrack earlier. I still think Rahman could have done better on at least one of the love songs. This is definitely easier on the years than Swades which was more of an acquired taste (though I like Swades). But JA has less instant appeal than MP in my view. To be honest this is really a knock on the audience and the kind of cinema that has been nurtured by both filmmakers and audiences. In an age of really short attention spans (if not downright ADD!) an album like JA will always be at a disadvantage. When was the last time we heard a serious bhajan in a film (barring Rahman himself!). And this album has a sufi devotional as well!

Aarohi: The bhajan here is the most beautiful one in ages. Of the rest Azeem was something I got hooked onto instantly. The devotional number Khwaja is also rather soothing. Of the love songs I though Jashn was just ok while In Lamho ke is much better and especially elevated by the choral interludes. My picks would definitely be Azeem and Mann Mohana. Overall I would call it on a couple of listens a good album from Rahman though not an outstanding one. This is not to say I'm disappointed with the album. I find it impossible to not like a Rahman album! But I probably expected more.

And I would agree with those here who've suggested here that the album does not have much commercial appeal.

It is certainly not an album for the masses,IMO...only Azeem-O-Shaan Shehanshah could qualify as a popular track.

Really excited about the movie...hope it delivers!

Bought the CD today! Has got nice pics of Ash and Hrithik..the lyrics booklet is good as well. Wish it had nice poster though.

I really love the Jashn-e-Baharaa (Instrumental). This one's not your regular instrumental. Rahman has given Navin a free hand here...There are some extended notes in a couple of places that are absolutely stunning.
