Overseas: ‘Welcome’ big, ‘T.Z.P.’ picks up

Link

WELCOME has fetched the biggest start ever for an Akshay Kumar starrer in U.K. The opening weekend collections are mind-blowing and when compared to the other openers of 2007, it’s the second biggest opener of this year, after OM SHANTI OM.

On the other hand, TAARE ZAMEEN PAR has had a slow start in U.K., but if you look at the day-wise collections, you will realize that the business is rock-steady. In the U.S., the opening is quite impressive, keeping in mind the fact that it’s not an out-and-out Aamir Khan starrer and also it’s a serious theme.

Note:- Due to Christmas vacations, the Overseas figures are trickling in slowly. IndiaFM is the only website that has the access to Overseas figures. We will keep you updated as more figures pour in.

In overseas TZP’s numbers are far from impressive, barring USA.UK numbers seem to be on the lower side.considering the superlative reviews and strong WOM, it should sustain well in the latter weeks.

The response in the UK to TZP is far from impressive. I did mention that in a thatre in Central London it was going at 50% occupancy last Sunday in a night show when it is supposed to be an extended weekend. On the contrary Welcome was going full house in a much bigger theatre.

What is heartening to note is the figures of Aaja Nachle in the UK. It has emerged as a hit to super hit here. Overall the movie has more than recovered its cost. What do you feel Tango?
