In general, I am a creative person -- creating something is what seems to give me maximum pleasure. I am interested in a variety of things like movies, writing, photography, quizzing, travel, history, culture, religion and computers. I run the AllThingsKamal.info blog.

Now, this is potentially revolutionary — funding and screening short films regularly. The brain-child of writer-cum-activist Gnani, the One Reel Movement is being funded by Pyramid Saimira (who are into production, distribution and exhibtion). The group will promote a 10-minute movie (measuring 1 reel of film approximately) every month, to be screened ahead of a regular feature film. The aim is to encourage fresh talent and cultivate varied tastes among the audience. Great to see that there are noble minds in the money-minded movie business.

The movement kicks off on December 28, the day when the Lumiere brothers showed off their first ‘movies’ 112 years ago. The first such short film will be Thirumathi James Ippodhu Enna Seyya Vendum? (What Should Mrs. James Do Now?) by Gnani himself.
