Dear  NG friends  a  very happy  (let me try to innovate) and merry diwali  to you all  and specially to the captain of the ship Rohit.  This is truly  an intellectual  site with some well informed and learned  members. I like the  polite and  decent language used here.

To be honest it has been a  not so good  diwali this year ,  movie watching wise. Last year I enjoyed both Don and  Jaaneman. They were both enjoyable in their own way. On pure merit Jaaneman  deserved more  support.  But nothing sells like  Shahrukh Khan.

We all  have and I have  read a  number of very well written reviews for  both movies at this site , so I will not bore you all with my poor writing capabilities. Here are my feelings about the new films.

Sawariya -  A good cinema  experience, technically.  A more superior product  but is confusing and dimly lit ( even on neon screens).  Ranbir makes a good  debut, Sonam  a  fair one.  Salman looks drugged , Rani not on the  same  level as Laga Chunri Mein Daag.  When we have to press our mind to  understand  the movie it means it is confusing.  Too many songs one after the other. No doubt they are  well shot but too many!

 Rating  6/10

Omshanti Om-  I saw  movies in  the age  of the  Devgans and  Khans , so I must admit I could not enjoy  the jokes much in part one. The  only one that I got was  Sooraj with a  friend cap writing a dialogue for  Maine Pyar kiya. I also enjoyed the Rajnikant mimicry. But my  30 plus  friends tell me they enjoyed it.  The second half is  more enjoyable for me  as I could relate to it. It does not mean that  it is very good  But all the  gimmicks and stars made me  enjoy it. Songs were few  and well shot. Not on the level of Main Hoon Na or even Don. But  as I said nothing sells like Sharukh Khan and he carries the film on his  overacting shoulders, though not  much overacting in the second part.

 Rating   5/10

If forced to go  for a second time ( I pray that it does not happen) I will still go for Omshanti Om.  The reason  is simple I am not so good taste wise  to appreciate Sawariya and can manage to bear Omshanti om again, though once or twice I will half coffee and chips outside in part one. I did see Black two times, though.

I should have said this but missed my mind. Between Deepika and Sonam, Deepika is better. Sonam is nice but than Sanjay Bhansali is a great director compared to Farah Khan.

If I got a second chouice between OSO and SAWARIYA it would be the latter for me.
