Anurag Kashyap’s defence (sort of) on his YRF statement

the role of a writer is not to say what we all can say but what we are unable to say”..what prompted this post is the constant accusations and labels that i am confronted with.. when i answer them in all it’s honesty , they are edited and rewritten often out of context to make it sensational.. an interview about no smoking becomes something else and carries a headline
Yes i want a change, yes i try to bring people together, but i am not promoting friends here.. i become friends with filmmaker after having watched and be inspired by there film.. there is only backslappin that goes on on “KOFFEE WITH KARAN”, where you see the same guests literally pleasuring each other with i love you and your father and your uncle and aunt, where the interviewee when asked to name the biggest star is given choices only between Abhishek, HR and SRK but not aamir, that KOFFE WITH KARAN is the mutual masturbation club not PFC, here what we call is,”pats on the back”.. there are accusations of me promoting my friends films..

“where the interviewee when asked to name the biggest star is given choices only between Abhishek, HR and SRK but not aamir”
this is a plain lie.the choice is always between SRK,Aamir and Hrithik.i have never seen including Abhishek in that list of biggest stars.Aamir is always mentioned when to the choice comes for the biggest star and best actor.

You are right Som. I recall the Anil kapoor episode where he was asked this question. The options were Aarmir, SRK, Salman and Hrithik. H e politely asked to remove Hrithik’s name because he hasn’t done comparable number of films.
Having said that I think Anurag does have a point when he terms KWK as a medium for industry elites for backslapping each other.
