Ok Jeegs wrote something in the other post that gave me this idea.
Lets have the name of the movie that you have watched the most number of times. This obviously has to be only 1 movie and also write the number of times (atleast approximately) you have watched it.
Also so that most of us can identify the movie, lets name you most watched Hindi Movie.

Lol, plus I wasn’t born for a lot of them Sid..but my earliest childhood memories of cinema are from all those Bachchan starrers. We owned a theatre in Fiji for 3 years, then in NZ we owned a video library in Hamilton, and again dad had partnership in a cinema in NZ(Auckland) for a few years…
Which may explain some of it.

WOW Akshay Shah! You are an real Hindi movie buff. I have watched pre 1990 movies and I have got glimpses of the old ones. But I pretty much hate the old Hindi movie style of filmmaking …

Sid: My sister watches DDLJ probably once a week! Not in full, but in parts i.e puts the DVD on when she’s eating dinner, doing dishes etc..it’s a part of her life!!!!
I can’t do that, I either have to watch it attentively, or not watch it!Lol
Add Nasir Hussain’s YAADON KI BAARAT and HUM KISISE KAM NAHIN!

Sid.. Everyone in my family just loves this movie… and many years ago we boughta VHS and every now and then someone in the house pops it in and anyone who’s at home sits at it. Also.. seen it a whole bunch of time when we played while we had guests (from far off) home.

Nithi: Hate the old style of film-making? You won’t be saying that after you watch JEWEL THIEF, TEESRI MANZIL, or any of the older Bachchan classics(truer classics)…or ofcourse any Hrishikesh Mukherjee films. I prefer them anyday to the newer stuff on the whole.
One can also see my weakspot for Ghai (the older one) in a post like this, I literally LIVED on his films, and it’s people like me who gave him the title “SHOWMAN”, for me, back then, Ghai made what I would call the “perfect paisa vasool” movie! After PARDES though it was all downhill:(!

akshay shah 11 September 2007

Jeegs: Seriously? Wow..theres a LOT to appreciate, specially in a film like CHUPKE CHUPKE(add that to the list, just saw it 3-4 months back), and specially classics like PADOSAN and GOLMAAL.
The greatest compliment one can give to older classics is that directors even today merely copy these movies in some shape or another(or literally as in DONs case). GOLMAAL was re-done as COOLIE NO.1, PADOSAN is coming soon again as DHOL, SHOLAY(lost count), CHUPKE CHUPKE(recently ripped/homaged off in SALAAM NAMASTEY and HEYY BABYY).

Had it not been for the cinema/video shops owned earlier on I doubt I would’ve become such a movie buff.
Plus I live with the most hardcore Bachchan fan there is(pops) who lived through the entire Bachchan “madness” for the choice of better words.
Sister is a die-hard SRK fan, while Mum’s favorites are Shabana Azmi, Nasser, Om..yes she’s an ardent follower of the 80’s art-hosue movement…
Phew! Filmi household…
Strangely enough, none of my friends over here are “ardent” filmi-buffs like me.

Also.. Hera Pheri’s been such a success in my household … Babu Bhaiyya (Baburao Apte), Raju and Shaam have become the characters that me and my brothers have made impressions of dozens of times on the dinner table, repeating those dialogues from the movie.. or else just twisting it a bit to cater to whatever subject of discussion we were having.
..and Yes… I have perfected the Baburao impression. “baabu bhaiyya meeira naam hai, tiera nahin”

My father loves those Hrishikesh Mukerjhi films .. Gotta watch them on DVD. “Chotsi Se Baat” is his favorite.
Yes, I have watched a few Amol Palekar movies and Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron was the best Hindi comedy I have ever watched.

As far as Tamil movies go, I would like to advice you to watch those Kamal Hasan starrers with Crazy Mohan Dialogues. They are absolutely hilarious.

Again I simply adore most of the Amol Palekar comedies from that period and you’ve listed all of these here. I would also add a few non-Palekar films like Khubsoorat and Piya ka Ghar.
Golmaal to my mind is the the greatest Hindi comedy ever. Not just enormously funny but superbly subversive as well.

but it’s the romanantic movies that do it for me…
HDDCS and DDLJ
I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve put these in the dvd player.
I’ve also watched Swades a number of times. It’s a special movie.
Tamil movie–Kandukonain Kandukonain is a favorite. Love the music so often times I’ll just put it on to listen to it in the background.

I watched Karma the maximum number of times-5 followed by QSQT-4 times in the cinema hall.
Karma’s reason was – DE Darruu !!!!
DVD- I would say Shakti 20-30 times ( never the whole movie though)

Rocky: Yee haa for KARMA!!!!! HDDCS I’ve seen probably over 10 times, but ONLY the songs in the first half, and from Ajay’s entry to the very end……the first half bores me somewhat but Vanraj’s entry to the end is a masterstroke!!!
