Ok Jeegs wrote something in the other post that gave me this idea.

Lets have the name of the movie that you have watched the most number of times. This obviously has to be  only 1 movie and also write the number of times (atleast approximately) you have watched it.

Also so that most of us can identify the movie, lets name you most watched Hindi Movie.

Lol, plus I wasn’t born for a lot of them Sid..but my earliest childhood memories of cinema are from all those Bachchan starrers. We owned a theatre in Fiji for 3 years, then in NZ we owned a video library in Hamilton, and again dad had partnership in a cinema in NZ(Auckland) for a few years…

Which may explain some of it.

One can also see my weakspot for Ghai (the older one) in a post like this, I literally LIVED on his films, and it’s people like me who gave him the title “SHOWMAN”, for me, back then, Ghai made what I would call the “perfect paisa vasool” movie! After PARDES though it was all downhill:(!

The greatest compliment one can give to older classics is that directors even today merely copy these movies in some shape or another(or literally as in DONs case). GOLMAAL was re-done as COOLIE NO.1, PADOSAN is coming soon again as DHOL, SHOLAY(lost count), CHUPKE CHUPKE(recently ripped/homaged off in SALAAM NAMASTEY and HEYY BABYY).

Sister is a die-hard SRK fan, while Mum’s favorites are Shabana Azmi, Nasser, Om..yes she’s an ardent follower of the 80’s art-hosue movement…

My father loves those Hrishikesh Mukerjhi films .. Gotta watch them on DVD. “Chotsi Se Baat” is his favorite.

Yes, I have watched a few Amol Palekar movies and Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron was the best Hindi comedy I have ever watched.

Akshay:–Purana Mandir is a Ramsay horror flick, it’s sometimes also known as the Sholay of B-Grade horror movies. Apparently, it did amazing business for the kind of movie it was…haven’t seen it though.

Glad you mentioned KHATTA MEETHA Sunny, nice film that..one of the few films to present Parsi’s without all the usual buffoonish stereotypes! Basu Chatterjee was ace at this sorta stuff..

Since you did ask for one movie I’d pick Trishul. I must have seen this around 50-60 times. But there are also others that I’ve seen 30-40 times. And a list of movies that I’ve seen 10-20 times would be enormous!

Sandy: If I could take any single Hindi film to a desert island it would be Trishul.

Again I simply adore most of the Amol Palekar comedies from that period and you’ve listed all of these here. I would also add a few non-Palekar films like Khubsoorat and Piya ka Ghar.

Golmaal to my mind is the the greatest Hindi comedy ever. Not just enormously funny but superbly subversive as well.

Though I used to hate Amol Palekar when I was kid but from 70s, I like Amol Palekar’s movie the most (if it is directed by Hrishkiesh Mukherjee, nothing like it).

    HDDCS and DDLJ
I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve put these in the dvd player.

I’ve also watched Swades a number of times. It’s a special movie.

Tamil movie–Kandukonain Kandukonain is a favorite. Love the music so often times I’ll just put it on to listen to it in the background.
