CDI
Bollywood productions are known for their extravagance. Hence, an eight-minute song sequence can mean globe-trotting around many countries for that perfect shot.
And after its run in the Swiss Alps and the streets of the US of A, the film industry trains its eyes on the land Down Under. Yes, Australia seems to be the new Bollywood backyard.

The latest movie to film there is Shah Rukh Khan’s Chak De! India.

Dil Chahta Hai
Directed by Farhan Akhtar, this film was a hit both in India and overseas.

Stylish and cosmopolitan, it tells the story of three friends, and their different views on life, and love in particular — Akash (Aamir Khan) was the cynic, Sameer (Saif Ali Khan), the romantic and Siddharth or Sid, (Akshaye Khanna), the ’serious’ sort.

The second half of the film moved to Sydney, and it seemed to be the perfect place for Akash’s love for Preity Zinta’s character to blossom.

The film’s style also extended to the music, by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, which many fans thought was fresh and different.

Saalam Namaste
Directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Aditya Chopra, this tale is about Nikhil Arora (Saif Ali Khan) and Ambar Malhotra (Preity Zinta), who leave India in order to live their lives in Melbourne. They meet, fall in love, and move in together. A few months later, they are left to deal with a pregnancy.

This is the first Bollywood film to be shot entirely in Australia.

Prem Aggan
Feroz Khan’s bid to launch his son, Fardeen Khan, flopped badly in this film, whose plot meanders to nowhere.

Instead of a stylish film expected from daddy dearest, we had a boring one complete with caricaturish performances.

The only good thing about the film was the beautiful locales.

Soldier
Australia serves as a setting here where Vicky (Bobby Deol) meets Preeti (Preity Zinta) and the two fall in love in this suspense thriller involving a series of unexplained murders.

Directed by Abbas-Mustan, the film was made on a large scale, with about 70 percent being shot in Australia and New Zealand.

Heyy Babyy
Sajid Khan’s first directorial feature film promises to be a laugh riot.

The tale revolves around three bachelors in Sydney — Aroush (Akshay Kumar), Tanmay (Riteish Deshmukh) and Al (Fardeen Khan), whose fun days is brought to an abrupt halt when a dimpled baby lands up at their doorstep.

The film also boasts of a promotional video by an Australian girl band, called the Australian divas.
